RUSSELL RAE STUART Russ Stuart passed away at Boundary Trails Centre in Winkler, Manitoba on Tuesday, March 29, 2016. He was predeceased by Anna, his beloved wife of 68 years, his parents Wallace and Violet (Meades) Stuart, his brother Mel, and his sisters Bernie (Smith), Shirley (Holdgate), and Vi (Lovell). He will be lovingly remembered and forever missed by his daughter, Heather (Jack Miller), and his grandchildren Jeffrey and Alexa. Russ was born on June 23, 1925 on the family farm in La Riviere, Manitoba. He was discharged from the Navy in October, 1945 and married Anna on March 20, 1947 at the home of her parents, William and Annie Wilson in Manitou. They resided in Fort Whyte until his retirement from Canada Cement (Lafarge) and then moved to Carman. After Anna's passing in January 2015, Russ moved to Homestead South assisted living in Morden. He was proud to have worked with Don Muir and friends in creating the initial wildlife sanctuary at the cement plant pits on land that evolved into the FortWhyte Alive Centre. Russ and Anna also enjoyed their involvement and friendships in the Standardbred (harness horse) racing community where Russ owned and operated the mobile starting gate for many years. Russ will be laid to rest beside Anna in the Manitou Cemetery. A private family gathering will be planned. In memory of how Russ lived his life, please do a kind deed for someone today.
