GLORIA ERCIA LANTICAN MARIANO (March 28, 1948 - April 19, 2016) Gloria Mariano passed away at the Health Sciences Centre at the age of 68 years. She will be greatly missed by her loving husband, Roberto Mariano, daughter, Ronna Gaile, and son, Ronann. She is predeceased by her parents, Crispulo and Cleofe Lantican, brothers, Celestino Lantican (Arsenia), and Calixtro Lantican (Juana); and sisters: Julita Dechitan (Antonio), and Lourdes Marinas (Renato). She is survived by her siblings; Iluminada De Los Reyes (Soriano), Ipifania Tamis (Alfonso), and Vergillio Lantican (May); nieces Jane Macaraeg (Raymond), and Marriane Remoquillo (Dennis); nephew John Lantican (Myla); great nieces and nephews (Kaliyah, Kaiden, Orion, and Tevin); and a large extended family (Ercia, Lantican, Correa, Gonzalez, and Mariano Families) and friends in Winnipeg, Dauphin, Arviat, California, Italy, and the Philippines. Gloria was born in the Philippines and moved to Canada in 1972, working diligently as a seamstress to support her family both in the Philippines and in Winnipeg. She worked various jobs for many years, and dreamed of a better life not only for herself but for all those she loved. She enjoyed cooking, hosting family gatherings, going to the casino, travelling home to the Philippines and spending time with all her family in Los Banos, Laguna, especially with her niece, Alicia Eisma and nephew, Noel Marinas. For Gloria, tending to her vegetable garden was a very special hobby that she and Roberto enjoyed together. They spent the summer months harvesting many vegetables, especially their favourites like upo, mustasa, and calabasa, which Gloria would cook for her family and friends. Gloria was a very loving, brave, funny, and strong-willed woman who will forever be remembered as a pioneer and role model.
