MARIO AMBRENAC It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father and son on April 24, 2016 at the age of 46. Mario will be greatly missed by his wife Christina, sons Matthew and Mitchell, parents Antun and Maria Ambrenac, sister Vicky Chernak (Rob, Alyssa, Justyn), his Baba Ivka Curic, in-laws Frank and Reni Koesters, and sister-in-law Sandy Kiazyk (Jonathan, Joshua, Nicolas). Mario also leaves behind many loved aunts, uncles, cousins and friends in Canada, Croatia and Germany. Mario was born on July 5, 1969 in Croatia and moved with his young family to Canada in 1973. Mario grew up in the Maples graduating from Maples Collegiate in 1987. He pursued his talent for computers and technology and was working at Great West Life for the past 18 years. Mario met his wife Chrissy in 1995 and they were married in 1999. They welcomed two amazing sons, Matthew in 2000, and Mitchell in 2003. By far the greatest joy in Mario's life was doing things with his two boys. Mario loved to be involved in his children's activities including soccer, hockey, baseball and Scouts. He truly cherished the time he spent with his loved ones, especially family vacations, summer camping and spending time around the fire with family and good friends. Those who had the honour of knowing Mario would agree he had a carefree, fun-loving, and easy going personality, and was always ready to lend a helping hand or enjoy a good joke and laugh. Mario truly lived his life in the moment and never sweated the small stuff. A celebration of Mario's life will take place on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. The family kindly asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba or to Craig Street Cats, where Mario and his family adopted two cats the day he passed away. Some people live more in 20 years than others do in 80. It's not the time that matters it's the person (Dr. Who, The 10th Doctor) Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550

  • I've worked with Mario for 10 years and every day that I talked to him, he was always smiling, he was always a very friendly person. We joked with him about his name being like the video game character, and when he'd call me, I'd answer the phone and he'd give me a big "It's-a me! It's-a Mario!" and a laugh. He was a great storyteller and had many fun nights playing poker with him and listening to him. I'm very sad to hear of his passing, it was a shock to hear as I'd talked to him only a couple days earlier. My condolences to his family and all his friends. He will be missed. - Posted by: Jarret Aubry (co-worker) on: Apr 28, 2016

  • I had the great privilege to know Mario for well over +30 years. He and my brother John were best friends from grade school, right up through High school and University, so he was always growing up around the Vidmar household. He always had such a friendly, outgoing and unselfish attitude, with a quick wit and a hearty laugh. He never had a bad thing to say about anyone, and was eager to lend a hand if you needed help. We reconnected when we attended RRC together back in the late 90s, taking the CAP program. He would always help his fellow students with their assignments, and most importantly, he always had time to help me. I wouldn't have made it through school without his help and be where I am today. I owe him a great debt of gratitude that I can never repay. Goodbye Mario, my old friend - we will miss you... The Vidmar family (Michael, John, Joseph, Slavica and Tomo) wishes to extend our most sincere condolences in this difficult time to Chrissy and his boys, and to his parents. Moja sućut. - Posted by: Mike Vidmar (long time friend \ coworker) on: Apr 27, 2016
