MAUREEN LILLIAN DOW March 24, 1920 - April 26, 2016 On April 26, 2016, the Lord called home our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Maureen is survived by her three children Tim (Colleen), Chris (Sharon) and Shelagh (Mac), her brother Gordon (Marg), eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Mom was predeceased by her husband Allan in 1983 and her two sisters Dorrie Crawford and Millie Pearce. Maureen was a lifelong resident of Elmwood and East Kildonan. She was born on Harbison Ave to George and Annie Maxwell. She attended Lord Selkirk and St. John's High School. Mom grew up spending her summers at Grand Marais. She loved being there and her dad always referred to her as his "first mate". She continued her summer passion in Grand Marais up until her late 80s. Mom met and married Dad (Allan) in 1948. Mom was a long time dedicated member of King Memorial and Immanuel United Churches. She spent her last years at Concordia Village where she had many friends and met many new ones. The family would like to thank the staff at Concordia Village, the home care ladies that took good care of her and the doctors and nurses at Concordia Hospital 3 East. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 4 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler Avenue at Henderson Hwy. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Cancer Care or a charity of your choice.
