MAILA COTTES
Born: Sep 05, 1967
Date of Passing: Apr 29, 2016
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMAILA COTTES It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Maila Cottes (Resus) on April 29, 2016. She was born on September 5, 1967. Maila will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her devoted husband, Michael and her two beautiful twin daughters Maya and Marisa; parents, Martin and Leticia; brothers and sisters, Joyce, Milady, Carlo and Jay; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Phyllis and Lloyd; sisters-in-law, Tracy and Cheryl; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, and dear friends. We are consoled by the fact that she is resting peacefully after a lengthy illness. Her journey required a lot of love, strength and spirit. She fought with such grace and dignity. She always worried about others and never complained. She attended St. John's High School. She worked as a traffic coordinator, dealing with importing and exporting. She loved to travel, play baseball and sponge hockey, but most of all just spending time with her family and friends. She met Michael, fell in love, and married in July 15, 1995. They traveled a great distance, and waited a long time to embrace their twin girls from China. They are the love or their life. She will be with them, watching them grow up and do all the things that she had planned to do as a family. She will remain in their hearts forever. Special thank you to Phyllis and Lloyd Cottes for their support to their son Michael when needed the most, and the many health professionals for their care and support. In lieu of flowers, a trust fund will be set up for Maya and Marisa's future education. Donations can be made by cheque to Michael Cottes in trust for Maya and Marisa Cottes. Funeral Service will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 4 2016, at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. Winnipeg. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550

Phyllis & Lloyd, we are so sorry for your loss, and please give our condolences to your Son and others in your family. Trust in the path you have been shown as we know there is a greater journey ahead, and we are told that time heals all, but it seems that sometimes when we look ahead, we doubt that we have that much time to give. Take good care of each other. P & B - Posted by: Peggy & Brian McCowan (Friends) on: May 07, 2016

My sincere and heartfelt condolences to the Torres, Dela Torre and Resus families who I have known since childhood, and to the Cottes family who I have not yet encountered. Joyce was my best friend from grade school to senior high at St. John's until they moved away to BC, but she, Milady and I maintained a friendship via Facebook. I was almost always at their house, and they treated me like family. They were, in fact, the family that I always wished I had. Mr. and Mrs. Resus were very kind and generous to me, Milady was the loud one, Joyce was the crazy one, Carlo was the quiet one, Jay was the little joker and Maila was the sweet one. I will never forget you, sweet Maila. "Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy." -Eskimo Proverb You are now a shining star, Maila. May you R.I.P. - Posted by: Liana Rois (old family friend) on: May 02, 2016
