GEORGE (JIRI) GROSS George (Jiri) Gross suddenly passed away on April 29, 2016. He is survived by his wife Bozena, brothers Petr and Martin, sons George and Robert, as well as his grandson Evan. George was born in Brno, Czechoslovakia and served in the Czech Air Force as a young man. This gave him a love of flying and aircraft, whether it was in museums or flying models. He and his wife escaped Czechoslovakia in 1968 and came to Winnipeg on a cold December day. He quickly grew to love his newly adopted country and the freedom that came with it. He spent much of his summers enjoying the natural beauty of its parks and cities throughout North America. Summers were always filled with family camping road trips and he later enjoyed spending time at the cottage with his son Robert. George was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, and camping, especially his favourite May long weekend tradition of over 40 years to Hillock Lake. He was always friendly and willing to lend a hand if a garage needed building or if work was needed to be done. He will truly be missed by his family and friends. Memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550

I had the pleasure of working with George at Versatile for over ten years. I can say with all honesty that he was one of the nicest men I have ever met. - Posted by: Trevor Smith (Former colleague) on: May 04, 2016
