SOMBOUN PATHAMMAVONG It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear husband, father, grandpa and great-grandpa, Somboun Pathammavong on May 2, 2016. Somboun passed away peacefully in his home surrounded his loved ones. He is survived by his wife, Somphet; six children, Khaykeo, Khaykham (Tammachuck), Amphayvanh (Tan), Somsamay (Martin), Phouphasith (Teresa), Thippaphone (Kris); and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Natalie, Martin, Kevin, Nathan, Adrian, Andrew, Isiah, Ryan, Lina, Sheena, Sean, Taeva, Darby, Jonas, Milli, Liam, Mekdara, Peyton, Brayden, Alivia and Malcolm. He is preceded in death by parents Jar Keung and Lanoi Pathammavong; son Phouphaseuth; brothers and sisters, Khamta, Vanh Na, Boula, Madee, Sakee, Khammoun, and Bounthom. Somboun was born in Banh Keng Yang, Vientiane, Laos. He joined the Royal Lao Army (RLA) at age 18 and by the end of his career achieved a rank of Major General. He loved serving his country and the discipline and patriotism he learned in the Army never left him. But his greatest love was always for his family and so in hopes of a better life for his children, he made the journey to Canada in 1980. We lost an amazing man who will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him. A celebration of Somboun's life will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550
