WILLIAM SEMENCHUK It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear brother, uncle and great-uncle William Bill Semenchuk. Bill was born on Selkirk Avenue in the north end of Winnipeg (October 20, 1927). He attended Florence Nightingale and Lord Nelson Schools. At 16 years of age Bill began his career as a pipe fitter at CP rail. After working there for 42 years he retired and began his "second career" of travelling and casinos. Bill was an avid sports fan and followed the Winnipeg Jets and Winnipeg Blue Bomber teams closely. He was also a huge supporter of the West Kildonan Northstars back in the 1970s and 1980s. Even in his failing health we would still catch him watching the hockey games on his TV at the Maples Personal Care Home. Bill was first married to Olga. They divorced and never kept in touch. Bill was predeceased by his partner Elsie. They enjoyed many years together at Lake Nutimik with Baba's dog "Cookie". Elsie was Bill's main travel partner and they enjoyed many memorable road adventures together. Bill is survived by his brother Borden, and three nephews Bill (Nadine), Tom (Renee) and Ronald (Elizabeth), as well as many great and great-great-nephews and nieces. Interment will be held at Brookside Cemetery on Monday, May 9 at 1:00 p.m.
