Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANTONIO FRANCESCO CHIAPPETTA (TONI) It was a sad day on Friday, May 20, 2016 when Toni Chiappetta left us. He died at home, his indomitable heart finally giving out; it was where he was happiest, where he wanted to be, and where he moved on from this world. Toni was the embodiment of how immigrants made this country, this city, great. His iconic Toni's Barbershop at 68 Sherbrook Street stood the test of time for over 60 years and when his sign was finally taken down Toni's journey was completed. One could not separate Toni the man from Toni the Barber they were one. This is a man who fell out of his apple tree and broke both wrists only to be cutting hair with casts on as soon as he could work his scissors. Toni's scissors were his instrument; he was a virtuoso, a master barber. Born on November 11, 1929 in Rovito, Cosenza, Italy. Toni was predeceased by his mother, Rosina (nee DeMarco) and father, Michele Chiappetta, sister Mafalda (Vinanzio), brother Eduardo. Toni will be greatly missed and forever remembered by his wife, Olive; children, Frank, Phil (Linda), Mary (John), Patti (Brian) and Anthony. Grandchildren, Devan, Mia, Avery, Hailey, Selene, Sam and Jessica. Brothers Mario (Maria), Ettore (Sheryl); sister-in-law Gina and many nieces and nephews Toni's deep passion outside the shop was for family life; nothing pleased him more than seeing the whole family gathered together for a meal or celebration. When the children and grandchildren were all present he had a look of completeness on his face, a look of joy. Toni also loved his garden and looked forward every spring to planting, especially his beloved tomatoes. This year's planting was not to be and as his family moves on it will be forever remembering his love of good food from the garden and the generous way he shared his abundance with all. A memorial mass will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2016, 11:00 a.m. at Saint Ignatius Church, 255 Stafford Street. A reception will follow the Catholic Mass Service. A private interment will take place at a later time. Special thank you to his doctor for his kindness and friendship, always going above and beyond Dr. Asad Junaid. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Rossbrook House (or Innovative LIFE Options Inc.)

I found out about Toni's passing two days ago and wish to offer my condolences to the family. I am sorry I missed the funeral services and wish I could have offered my condolences in person especially to my old high school friend Frank.
