MARGARET ROMAS 1925 - 2016 It is with a sad heart that we announce the passing of our Mom, Margaret Agnes Romas (nee Kiss), on May 16, 2016 at 91 years of age. Margaret passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family at St. Norbert Personal Care Home. Margaret is lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her eldest daughter Lee'Anne, her husband Boris, and their two sons Adam and Dave (Jess); and Margaret's youngest daughter, Donna, her husband Lance, and their two sons, Chris and Mark (wife Britany) with their children, Ryen and Van. She is also survived by her sisters Tildie and Annie and brother Ronnie. She was predeceased by her husband Nick; parents Joseph and Anna Kiss; brothers Mike, Joseph, John, Steve, George, Robert, and Richard; and sisters Julia, Terry and Rheeta. Margaret was born on the family farm in Saskatchewan on February 9, 1925, the seventh of 14 children. Upon finishing her schooling, she moved to Winnipeg where she lived with her sister, Terry. She started working for D.I.L., mixing and packing Cordite during the Second World War. There she met the love of her life, Nick. They were married on June 14, 1947 (62 years). Margaret always said "the best job she ever had was raising her two daughters". Margaret was known for her many talents. She was a genius at gardening, a great cook, excellent seamstress, "professional" handy woman, avid reader, magazine and recipe collector, top notch crocheter, hat designer and card player. Even with all those pursuits, she worked several different jobs in her life, including Canada Packers, L. Berman Importers and Lighting Materials, the last being at St. John's College at The University of Manitoba. She retired at 62 alongside Nick. They spent over 20 years of retirement cheering on their grandchildren, traveling, shopping and enjoying the company of their many friends. A special thanks to the wonderful staff at the St. Norbert Personal Care Home who took such good care of our Mom. The memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. Interment will be at Transcona Cemetery after the lunch. Flowers can be sent to Glen Lawn Funeral Home. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550
