ELINOR MURIEL SMITHSON (nee SUTTON) March 13, 1929 Carman, Manitoba June 1, 2016 Calgary, Alberta Elinor beloved wife of Walter Christopher Smithson (deceased) of Calgary, AB, passed away on June 1, 2016 at the age of 87 years. Elinor was a long time resident of Winnipeg, Manitoba where she was a charter member of the St. James Assiniboia Opti-Mrs. Club, and a charter member of the Assiniboine Memorial Curling Club. She also was an active member of the Kirkfield United Church UCW. She worked for several years at the Bank of Nova Scotia in Kirkfield Park. Elinor and Walter enjoyed 35 happy winters in Corpus Christi, TX. Elinor is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Christyl and Stephen Ayliffe; her grandchildren, Ryan (Stephanie) Ayliffe, Robyn (Kieran) Ayliffe; great-grandchildren, Alicia and Cade; sister Myrene Hodgson and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband Walter, siblings, Dorothy Green, Joyce Sandulak and Ralph Sutton. A Memorial Service will be held in Carman, Manitoba at a later date.
