OLLIE OROBKO
Born: May 27, 1962
Date of Passing: Jun 03, 2016
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryOLLIE OROBKO May 27, 1962 - June 3, 2016 It is with great sadness we announce that Ollie Taras Orobko fell asleep in death at the age of 54, surrounded by family. He will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife Diane, of 26 years, and his precious daughters Andrea and Kaylee. He will be dearly missed by his mother Maria, his brother Emil (Maria), his sister Nadia (Cal) Burtniak, his mother-in-law, Adaline Trenchard, brother-in-law Ken (Melanie) Trenchard, sisters-in-law Linda (Leo) Orobko, Betty (Ted) Millar, Sandy (Kevin) Markevich, Wendy (Noel) L'Heureux, and Christine (Jeremy) Stewart, his 19 nieces and nephews, and a large family of spiritual brothers and sisters. He was predeceased by his father Michael (2015), his brothers Roman (2014) and Leo (2015). Ollie was born in Winnipeg and lived in East Kildonan his entire life. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Manitoba in 1985 and his Cabinet Maker Journeyman in 1995. He worked at various Cabinet Shops before becoming an Instructor for the Wood Products Manufacturing Program at Red River College from 1997 until retirement in 2010. He lived courageously with the debilitating effects of Adrenomyeloneuropathy (AMN) for the past 15 years. However, it was a stroke that took him and left his family and friends in shock that he was gone too soon. Despite the trials he faced he was always so positive and happy, still making big plans. His sense of humour is one of the first things that come to mind when you think of Ollie. He was an amazing human being, adored by all who knew him. As one of Jehovah's Witnesses for over 35 years, Ollie had a strong faith in his Creator, Jehovah, and in the resurrection hope. He firmly believed the earth will become a paradise again and was comforted by the promise that people will be restored to perfect health (Isaiah 35:5, 6). A memorial service will take place Friday, June 10, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 937 Gateway Road.

Diane and family - Our sympathy to you and your family in this very difficult time. I remember many summers at Camp Morton with the gang and Ollie cooking gourmet meals on the BBQ. He also had a way as a bartender, even in the woods. He was always smiling and happy and we will all miss him very much. We look forward to seeing his smiling face again in the new system when he won't need the cane anymore and he can make it down the hill to the beach. - Posted by: Elvera, Alex and Katrina Borsuk (Friends) on: Jun 10, 2016

Our heart felt sympathy to your family. we have fond memories of spending summers on picnics with Ollie and Leo with their parents at Grand Beach, our boys being the same age the association was treasured. Life took our families in different directions, we did not get to know the amazing young man, husband and father he had become, We look forward to meeting him again when pain and suffering is no more. May you take comfort in Jehovah and knowing that our thoughts are with you. Andy & Leona Skrypnyk & family Surrey, B.C. - Posted by: Andy & Leona Skrypnyk (friends of parents) on: Jun 09, 2016

Dear Diane and family, Wow, things change very quickly in this old system. We are so sorry to hear of this sudden loss. Even though his health was limiting, he was such a strong man. In the short time we came to know both of you, we came to love you both dearly. Just thinking of Ollie I immediately think of his quick wit, such a character. What a comforting hope we have. We can be confident that even though Ollie is not with us now, Jehovah will call and Ollie will answer and when he does he will be the same old Ollie. We are thinking of you Diane right now, and to the girls even though we have never met, you are in our prayers too! With love, Dana and Carlee. Diane, we are so sorry to hear about Ollie and the pain and sadness you and your family must be feeling now. We consider it a privilege that we got to know Ollie on your visits to Belize. You both encouraged us with your positive attitude and easy laughter despite difficult circumstances. We can't wait to join you in welcoming Ollie back again! Lots of love from your friends the Brydons. - Posted by: Dana, Carlee and MacKay Brydon (Friends) on: Jun 08, 2016

I remember meeting Ollie while in my first year in art school taking a ceramics class. I believe he was in his thesis year and I was totally in awe at his skill with the medium. He was also a very nice person and was willing to share his thoughts and skills on his ceramics and the imagery in them. Rest in peace, Ollie. - Posted by: Don Burroughs (Junior colleague at Art School at University of Manitoba) on: Jun 07, 2016

We are heartbroken. Ollie and I (Rob) go back many years and he was a true friend. He showed it in so many ways and it is a privilege and blessing to have such a man as a friend. His sense of humor was sooooo contagious, you couldn't help but be happy around him. Thankfully, his rest will be short....he'll need it since there's going to be a lot of work to do in restoring this earth to it's original intent. Dear Diane, Andrea, Kaylee....know that you are in our prayers every step of the way. Stay close to Jehovah and your brotherhood and to each other. You'll get through, though it won't be the same. Your husband and father would want you to continue on enjoying life. Our deepest love to you from the bottom of our hearts. - Posted by: Rob and Heather McLaughlin (Friends) on: Jun 07, 2016
