JEAN (JENNIE) STOPLE (nee DZIVER) June 27, 1928 - June 14, 2016 Peacefully, with family by her side, Jennie Rose Stople passed away at Concordia Hospital on June 14, 2016, at the age of 87 years. She was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Catherine, sisters Mary Lasiuk, Anne Kolench, Margaret Shmyr, Jessie Danyluk, Victoria Dziver, brothers Peter and Paul, and sister-in-law Valma Mulder. Left to mourn her passing are her husband Gerald, her daughter Kathy Gutsche (Felix) and Tracy (Tutu), and grandchildren Sabrina (Steven) and Chantal. Also grieving her loss is her sister Francis Kruk, and brother-in-law Dick Mulder. Mom was born in Strathclaire, Manitoba on June 27, 1928 and moved to Winnipeg when she was 18 years old. She met Dad on a bowling league and they married on July 15, 1961. Kathy was born in 1962, followed by Tracy in 1963. Mom enjoyed watching sports, especially the Blue Bombers and the Jets, and going to the Casino. Although Mom endured many serious illnesses and setbacks over her lifespan, she had the determination to never let it stop her from living each moment. Before arriving at Concordia Place, she regularly attended the Thursday's Women's Group at the Manitoba Schizophrenia Society which gave her the strength to take control of her mental illness. When she was first introduced to MSS in 1999, she was shown friendliness, encouragement and support and would always be grateful for that. She was especially proud of achieving the MSS 2009 Journey of Hope award. The family would especially like to thank Chris, Jane, and Karen at MSS for all the support they gave her and her family over the years. The funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 20, 2016 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. Viewing will be held at 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, if so moved, donations may be made to The Stople Hope Fund c/o The Winnipeg Foundation, 204-944-9474, www.wpgfdn.org. This fund was set up to provide modest assistance to persons living with Schizophrenia or Schizoeffective Disorder so that they may participate more fully in community life.
