ROSS GEORGE GIGUERE The world lost a great man on Sunday, June 19, 2016, when Ross Giguere passed suddenly. Ross is survived by his brother Raymond Giguere; his wife Lauma Giguere; his daughter Teri MacDonald (Dave); grandsons, Alex, Nathan and Ryan; daughter Tracey Janzen (John); grandkids, Fletcher, Journey and Nolan who is keeping Ross company in Heaven. The weekend before his passing, Ross spent a peaceful and happy time with his wife at one of his most favorite places, Laurentia Beach, Lake Manitoba. Ross grew up going there in summers with his Mom, Dad and brother Raymond and in that, made many lifelong friends. His daughters have so many fond memories of summers there with their Dad and their friends, swimming and having fun on his boat, "The Barge." Ross worked for the CNR for 37 years and after retirement worked at Sobeys on Kenaston. He loved his retirement job and spent 16 years as a courtesy clerk with full intention of continuing his employment there. We'd like to thank the staff and customers there that knew Ross for being such a huge and happy part of his life. We are truly proud of the role he played there and hope you all know how important you were to him. Ross was a very kind, smart, hilarious, compassionate and giving man. He loved history and to all who knew him, take comfort and have a chuckle in the knowledge that he will finally know who killed JFK. As per Ross's request, there will be no formal service. To best honor our Dad, Grampa and your friend, be kind to one another, be kind to animals, don't sweat the small stuff, have a cold beer on a hot day, buy lottery tickets, share what you have, be an organ donor to help someone else and enjoy a laugh as often as you can. To further honor Ross, donations may be made in his name to The Movement Centre of Manitoba, (in remembrance of his late grandson Nolan Janzen) or to The Winnipeg Humane Society.

I have many fond memories of going with my family to St. Laurent as a pre-teen to visit the Giguere's (Uncle Marcel's and Aunt Ruby's) cottage many times. Often there were lots of other aunts, uncles and cousins there as well. It was a magical place where you could walk way out in the lake (it seemed for miles) from sandbar to sandbar with the water rarely getting much higher than the knees. I also remember a winter visit when Uncle Marcel tied toboggans to the back bumper of his car and gave the cousins the thrill ride of our lives (he was a wild man). Unfortunately, as we cousins grew into adulthood, we became busy with our own lives and families, and as a result the get togethers were few. But, I have all these cherished memories and Ross will always be part of them. RIP Ross. You were a good cousin and kind person. - Posted by: Neil Woolston (cousin) on: Jan 09, 2024

This is the first time I have seen this and I wish to offer my condolences however late they are to my cousin Ross’s whole family. I still remember fondly our family visit to Manitoba in the sixties and visiting many of our relatives in Winnipeg. We visited Uncle Marcel and Auntie Ruby, and cousins Ross and Raymond and I also recall going out and spending a few days at the cottage on Lake Manitoba. It was a wonderful part of growing up and I will never forget the feelings of meeting all of my relatives, and the hospitality and the feeling of family we were shown. My dad Chuck, was Marcel's brother. I also remember we had a bit of a family reunion, get together at Uncle George's camp on the Lake of the Woods ...I do have some photos of that somewhere ...I do recall Marcel, George, Rene, and my dad Chuck (Charles) all being there. Quite possibly Uncle Ed was too. Again sorry to hear this ... RIP cousin Ross... any family members wish to contact me I am on Facebook. I met Ross at Sobeys many years ago. He was always quick to help our family with our groceries. And he was also quick to offer a funny story! He was such a great story teller, who could entertain us with tales about anything, and everything. Ross will be missed! Rest in Peace. - Posted by: Jon Hendricks (Friend) on: Jun 26, 2016
