EDITH SYLVIA SHAWN It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of our dear nan/mom. She went to heaven to be with her soul-mate and husband John Shawn. Nan leaves her daughters, who she was so proud of: Judy Shawn and Rhea McGarry (Terry); her four grandchildren, Paula Rowinski (Regina), Sean Freeman, Derek McGarry (Shawna) and Shannon McGarry (Graham). Her loving great-grandchildren, Ashly (Violet), Amber, Lucas, Maddy, Paige, Deegan, Kenz, Sophie, Lily and Charlie. Nan had a passion for her family that truly is indescribable. She loved everyone unconditionally. She spent all of her life caring for children. Whether it was during her time of owning Shawn's Daycare, to the countless hours of babysitting and spending time with her grandchildren. She had a fierce love for baking and feeding anyone who graced her home. Her melting moments, donuts and perfect hand pinched perogies were her trademarks. We will carry on the tradition in her honour. Nan was known for her love of flowers, hiding ice cream cups under her car seat and getting in her car and driving to the farm, where she had so many roots and memories of her own childhood. These past years she fought many hard battles with her health, but she remained strong for her passion in life, her great-grandchildren. Whether it was her taking them on her walker for rides or just pulling them close, letting them know how special they were, she loved each and every one of them and they will miss her beyond words. Everyone who knew our Nan loved her. We will miss her but take great comfort knowing how much she truly loved us and hung on for so long. A private immediate family service was held. In honour of Nan you can make a donation to a charity of your choice. If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane we'd walk right up to heaven and bring you back again.

Nan you were such an amazing person. You taught me so much growing up. The amazing memories I have of spending so much time with you over my life are forever etched in my head. Shawna and the kids love you so much. You touched the hearts of more people than you could of imagined. Nan I miss you so much already but I know you will continue to watch over the family. I'm so thankful I got to spend one last hot summer day with you, I know how much you loved the summer. Nan you may be gone but you will NEVER be forgotten. Love you so much! Derek, Shawna, Paige and Deegan. - Posted by: Derek McGarry (Grandson) on: Jun 25, 2016
