UMBERTO MONTEBRUNO 1932 - 2016 It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Umberto Montebruno, with family by his side, on July 1, 2016. Left to treasure his loving memory are his loving wife of 50 years Carmela, his children, Giovanni (Lisa), Gabriella (Gregory), his three grandchildren, Daniel, Cassandra and Stephanie, along with brothers, Raphaele, Luigi (Teresa), Mario (Maria), sisters, Giovinna and Chiara and numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his brother Antonio. Umberto was born on September 19, 1932, in Mozzagrogna, Chieti, Italy, where he met and married his beloved wife in 1965. They moved to Canada in 1968 where he worked in construction and retired 22 years ago. He took great pride in his children and caring for his grandchildren. His favourite times were with family and friends. Dad had an amazing green thumb for both flowers and vegetables. People would always stop by to compliment or take pictures of his flowers. He always ensured there would be extra vegetables to gladly share his bounty with others. He had a great affinity for animals and always had a cookie in his pocket for his grand dogs. Although he was a quiet man, he would help anyone who needed it. Special thanks to the staff at Health Sciences Centre H3, CancerCare Manitoba and the Palliative Care team for their compassion and caring for both Umberto and his family. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 510 River Avenue with Father Sam Argenziano presiding. Condolences and viewing will be 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow in Queen of Heaven Mausoleum at Assumption Roman Catholic Cemetery, 3990 Portage Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Umberto's memory to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Room ON1160, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3E 0V9. Arrangements entrusted to: Voyage Funeral Home and Crematorium, 220 Hespeler Avenue.
