LYDIA ANNE RABSCH (nee KLEIN) July 26, 1940 - June 30, 2016 Lydia died peacefully at St. Boniface Hospital with her family at her side after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her brothers Edmund and Henry. She is survived by her husband Edmund, brothers Harry and Heinz, her sisters-in-law Dee Dee and Kathy, her son David and daughter-in-law Salina, and grandchildren Alliya and Marlenna. Lydia came to Canada with her family in 1956 and met her husband Edmund shortly thereafter. Her favourite hobby was gardening, evidenced by the breathtaking display in her back yard where she spent many long hours tending to and enjoying her accomplishment. Lydia spent the later part of her working life as a health care aide and companion to the elderly both in-home and at the Riverview Health Centre. She truly enjoyed this work and counted both her clients and her co-workers among her closest friends. Lydia's energy and exuberance were infectious, and she would garnish smiles from anyone who shared the room with her. She was a steadfast friend and was always available for advice or to just listen if you needed her. A memorial service in honour of Lydia's life will be held on Saturday, July 16 at 10:30 a.m. at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from Brookside Cemetery).
