Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCHRISTOS RIGAS February 7, 1941 - July 05, 2016 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dearest husband and father, after a courageous three year battle with cancer. Christos will be missed by his bride of 46 years, Amalia; daughter Dionisia, son Nektarios and his wife Roz (Alexa and Madison Parker). Also surviving Chris are his sister Maria and sister-in-law Agathi, and their families in Greece. Here in Canada, surviving Chris is his sister-in-law Katherine Pontikakis and her family. Dad was a devoted family man and we will forever cherish the countless memories of family celebrations that were so important to him. Dad was a generous host and his mission in life was to make sure everyone was well fed, taken care of and happy. Along with his family, his happiest moments were spent with his many friends and pursuing his passions, including fishing and hunting. The family would like to extend heartfelt appreciation for the care and compassion we received from the staff at CancerCare Manitoba, Grace Hospital (ER, 3rd and 4th floor) and Charleswood Long Term Care Center. Relatives and friends are invited to prayers and funeral services to be held at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 2255 Grant Ave. Prayers will be held on Sunday, July 10, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. and funeral service will be held on Monday, July 11, 2016 at 11:00 a.m., followed by interment at Assumption Catholic Cemetery, 3990 Portage Ave. Light lunch and reception will take place upon return to St. Demetrios. Flowers gratefully declined, donations to St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church would be appreciated, for the purchase of an Icon in Chris' memory.

It is with deep sadness that I am sending my condolences for the loss of Thio Rigas. In my memory, I remember such treasured years of spending the most special Christmases with your family. My heart is so sad to know he is no longer with us. I know he will be with many loved ones in the afterworld. I will always remember Thio Rigas as the most loving and compassionate human being who just showed love to us all. May God grant him the beautiful heavens , may he rest in peace and forever be with us in our hearts. Mimi, Isabella and Tommy - Posted by: Mimi (Family friends) on: Aug 01, 2016

I remember Chris and Amalia and their family from the Brooklands Inn when they ran the restaurant. Chris always had my Ice Cream and Chocolate Sauce ready for me when I wanted it. You will be missed. - Posted by: Louise Stevenson (Acquaintance from Brooklands Inn) on: Jul 09, 2016
