NELL ANASTASIA POKOTYLO (nee STRATIUK) Born October 20, 1927, Nell died peacefully early in the morning of July 10, 2016 in Richmond, BC at the Salvation Army Rotary Hospice House. Nell was raised in Dauphin, Manitoba and lived in Winnipeg and other prairie cities before moving to Richmond where she spent her last three years enjoying living at the Maple Residences in Steveston. She was predeceased by husband Metro Thomas "Corky" in 2008, and granddaughter Susanne in 2001. She is survived by son David (Catherine); daughter Linda "Dara" (Jerry); granddaughter Heather; grandson Jonathan (Melanie) and great-grandson Ryan. Nell enjoyed gardening and crafts of many kinds and was a prolific and very talented knitter. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by family and friends. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of the Richmond General Hospital Supportive Palliative Care Unit, and the Salvation Army Rotary Hospice House where Nell received excellent and compassionate care in the last weeks of her life. A private celebration of her life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Cancer Society or local hospice.
