ROGER LOUIS FIOLA October 17, 1953 - July 29, 2016 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Roger Fiola, beloved son, brother, father, grandfather and friend. Roger was predeceased by his parents Arthur and Jeanette and his brothers Maurice and Gilbert (at birth). He is survived by his sisters Lucille, Simone (Sam), Florence and Lilliane. Mourning the loss of Roger is his son Charlie (Kim) and grandsons Hudson, Nelson, his nieces and nephews André Findish, Danielle Findish, James Katsabanis, Peter Katsabanis, Daniel Chaput, Robert Chaput, Paul Fiola, Debbie Fiola, Sarah Curry and Janelle Curry. He will also be dearly missed by his close friend Barb. Besides Roger's family, his life was as well defined by his many friends too numerous to name but who likewise are feeling this deep knowingness of loss. Anyone who knew him knew what a little rascal he could be and how he had many passions: racing cars, making people laugh, the great urge to always lend a hand, watching sports, snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, quading and music to name a few but let's be honest, socializing with friends was his fave! In keeping with Roger's wishes, cremation will be taking place shortly and an informal wake will be held at Ste. Anne Hotel Thursday, August 4, 2016, from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Condolences & Memories (11 entries)

  • I was so sad to hear of Roger's passing. We spent many hours together, I will always remember him working on his race car at Gregoire Esso, Having a few drinks at Ste. Anne Hotel and laughing together when he would come by the garage. I have fond memories of riding around the racetrack in the big yellow Prevost bus he had painted like a snowmobile. My thoughts are with you all, especially Charlie at this very sad time. I saw him on an airplane a few years ago and we caught up on old times. The world is a lesser place now that he is gone. I will always remember what a fun-loving, dynamic and crazy guy he was! - Posted by: Shari Wirth (friend) on: Aug 29, 2016

  • I had the wonderful opportunity of working with Roger at Prevost Car and building customer relationships was definitley his strength. I have to agree that socializing with friends was his fave. There was a time for business and a time for play, he was genuine and special to all of us. I will keep fond memories of fun times together with Roger. My sincere condolences to the family. • Roger was one of the best motorcoach salesman that I met in my 37 years in the business! Always fun to be around and listen to all those funny stories he had. We'll miss him for sure! - Posted by: Marc Laplante (417 Bus Line Ltd & OMCA) on: Aug 05, 2016

  • I met Roger in 1980 at the Spring Conference of the Ontario Motor Coach Association). From that moment Roger became a source of laughter and fun times which were the highlight to all future encounters at OMCA events. Roger's integrity showed through his service and care for his customers and love for his friends and family. Roger brought the party to town - usually driving a motor coach! Yet, I knew all I had to do was pick up the phone and Roger would have done everything in his power to make my problem go away. I watched him teach and train new people to the bus industry. I witnessed him in his pain. I loved him like all of his closest friends from our Association and will dearly miss him. Hearing this news about our friend Roger brings up many memories of good times whether it was Miami, Sudbury, Toronto, Niagara Falls, London, Ottawa or Western Canada. • To Roger's family and friends, I wish you peace to bring comfort, courage to face the days ahead and loving memories to hold in your hearts forever. Roger grew up almost next door to us when we lived in Ste Anne and we saw his blonde curly head almost daily. He left us with good memories. Rest in peace Roger. - Posted by: Elizabeth Pitura (neighbor once upon a time) on: Aug 04, 2016

  • I am so sorry to hear about Roger's passing. He was part of our lives since he was a teenager, always a favorite. I don't think there is anyone who knew him growing up, whose life he didn't touch in some special way. I am saddened at the thought that we will never hear his laugh or see his smile again. Missing him already. - Posted by: Doris Leclair (Friend) on: Aug 04, 2016

  • Roger was a long time member of OMCA and when he attended the annual marketplace, he was always so entertaining! He loved to play tricks on the staff and brought us many laughs. One meeting was held at Blue Mountain in Collingwood and I had taken my Mother along for a get away. Roger made my Mom feel so welcome and he asked her to dance several times which made her feel very young again. I was so grateful for his kindness. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
