Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryABRAM GIESBRECHT April 28, 1926 - August 5, 2016 Abe was predeceased by all his five Giesbrecht siblings, two Hiebert brothers-in-laws and his beloved son Gary. He is mourned by the love of his life, his wife of 65 years Justina (nee Hiebert), his children, Alan (Judie Alimonti), Kathy, Christine (daughter-in-law) and his grandchildren, Lindsay (fiancé Joey) and Bryan. His extended Giesbrecht and Hiebert families and Cornerstone friends. A proud veteran, serving in both the medical and engineering corps of the Canadian Armed Forces. His 23rd field squadron helped save our city in the 1950 flood. A loyal employee, 35 years at Canada Packers, and committed union member. Devoted and caring family man, always working hard to make sure his family had more than enough. Justina and Abe had glorious years of retirement: years of singing in choirs and making new friends in Kelowna and travelling the world. They loved discovering the wonders and people of: Cuba, Australia, Greece, Portugal, England, Wales, Spain, Alaska, Netherlands (45 Anniversary of Liberation), Mexico, Caribbean Islands, Fiji and Regina (Labour Day Classic). Returning to Winnipeg, they continued to be faithful parents and grandparents. We are grateful for the gracious care our Dad received at the Kildonan Personal Care Home. Our family will bury him with deep sorrow and gratitude.
