Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySTEPHEN PULAK September 2, 1932- August 4, 2016 It is with profound sadness and sorrow that we announce Steve's sudden passing. He will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his daughter Tracy; son-in-law Charles and beloved Grandson Kaden. Steve also leaves to mourn his best friend and brother-in-law Larry Duma; Tracy's mother Rose Pulak; and son-in-law Randal Anderson (Trevor). He is also survived by his cherished sisters, Pauline Pylypjuk and Kay Bezruchko (Peter); brother Harry Pulak; sister-in-law Marge Bzovey; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends. Steve was predeceased by his parents, Maria (Harkot) and Michael Pulak; step-father Nick Harkot; brother Billy Pulak; and sisters, Anne Orsulak and Julia Perun. Steve was born in Pansy, Manitoba and left his farming community and the province at 19 years old; ready to take on new challenges and adventures in Hamilton, Ontario. He began his work career as a bus driver in the Niagara region which led to driving a semi-trailer truck delivering mobile homes. Steve came back to Winnipeg a few years later, driving truck and installing antennas with Larry on the weekends. Soon he began to buy assorted used furniture that was traded in from mobile homes. Shortly thereafter, he took a risk, followed his dream and Pulak furniture was born. From small beginnings, he successfully grew the business over the next 27 years along with Rose, Sally and Larry. Although considered a workaholic, Steve retired in 1998 and spent a lot of his free time watching sporting events. He was a Winnipeg Blue Bomber season ticket holder for more than 50 years, along with being an avid supporter of the Jets 1.0, Moose, and Jets 2.0. He also loved to watch the Blue Jays and was a dedicated NFL follower. In the more recent years, Steve took great pleasure watching his favourite sports player, Kaden, play football, baseball and hockey. Steve's life was surely extended by the joy he felt watching Kaden grow up. Back in his younger years, he enjoyed gardening, keeping his landscaping immaculate and travelling the world. Most of all and as a true Ukrainian, Steve loved feeding us all and took great pleasure in buying, cooking and preparing a good meal. His guidance, generosity, kindness and huge heart will be terribly missed by all who knew him. He was larger than life and his legacy will always live on in Tracy and Kaden. A celebration of Steve's life will be held at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. with interment to follow at a later date. We are all very sorry to hear about Steve. We did not see much of him in recent years but we always heard how things were going and it seemed like he really enjoyed his retirement and spending time with his grandson. All the best to Tracy and Rose we will be thinking of you. I am sorry to hear about Steve's passing. Steve gave me one of my first "Real" Jobs in 1984 in the warehouse at Pulak Furniture. He may have been rough around the edges... but he was one of very few people who I admired and looked up to not only as a Winnipeg Success story but as a business man, and a very humble man who would do almost everything to help out. I can honestly say that with Steve and Larry showing me the ropes of the furniture industry, I have stayed in the same industry since 1984 to this very day. We had many laughs over the years even after Steve retired and I will miss his infectious smile and laugh. Heres to you steve!!! a shot of crown...!!!!
