Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVIOLETA (LETY) ARIDA March 30, 1930 - August 7, 2016 On Sunday, August 7, 2016, Lety blissfully joined our Creator at the age of 86. Her children were with her during her peaceful and blessed final moments. During her life, Lety was one of the Philippines' brightest chemical research scientists. She was the recipient of numerous international awards for her research work. Today, the Filipino nation enjoys the many fruits of her decades long career as one of the country's leading government scientists. She is survived by her son Wally Arida and his children Izak and Kiia; daughter Winnie Navarro, her spouse Mano and their children Martin Andre and Catharyn Bianca; daughter Jocelyn; son Joel, his spouse Petra and their children Niccolo, Joschka and Alizah; son Jake, his spouse Ronnie and their children Audrey and Nathan. Viewing/Lamay will be held on Sunday, August 14, 7:00 p.m. at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd., Winnipeg, MB. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, August 15, 11:00 a.m. at St. Vital Catholic Church located at 1629 Pembina Hwy., Winnipeg. A reception will be held after Mass at Asia City Restaurant, 1941 Pembina Hwy., Winnipeg, MB. Her family extends their sincerest gratitude for all the generous prayers, condolences and wishes of sympathy received during their moment of grief. They also wish to thank the kind nursing staff at Riverview Health Centre CD-1 in Winnipeg for their most commendable care and loving attention that made Lety's last days most comfortable and pain-free. At a date still to be determined, her cremated remains will travel to Los Angeles, California for a day of memorial services for friends and family in the United States. Thereafter, also at a date to be determined, her family will travel with her to the Philippines where she will be interred at her final resting place beside her husband, Isaac Arida, in her beloved hometown of Calaca, Batangas.
