PATRICIA LEONE KALYNIUK (nee PARKES) August 14, 1924 - August 20, 2016 It is with sadness that the family announces the passing of Patricia Kalyniuk, age 92, at the Victoria General Hospital, on August 20, 2016. She leaves to mourn her son Richard (Willie) Kalyniuk and daughter Betty-Anne (Randy) Pratt; six grandchildren Kelly, Tom, Kevin, Craig, Stephen and Michael and four great-grandchildren Cora, Caden, Claire, and Zachary. She was predeceased by her husband Anthony Kalyniuk in 1990; daughters Christine Denischuk in 2010, and Connie Bell in 2014. Mom was born and raised in Winnipeg, and attended Gordon Bell High School. As a young girl she loved to rollerskate and dance. She met dad after the war, they married and settled in Windsor Park in 1958 to raise their family. For most of her career, she worked at the Bank of Commerce until her retirement in 1983. One of her passions was dancing and she taught Latin American dancing for over 25 years. She even got dad to learn the cha-cha. She also enjoyed embroidery, creating many beautiful pieces and was proud to give them to her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed any card game and would usually win, was an avid reader, and also loved to travel, enjoying many wonderful trips with dad, and her family over the years. But her most cherished times were when the family gathered from around the country at the family cottage at Nutimik Lake. Her pies made from hand-picked blueberries were a treat and enjoyed by all. She was a very proud mom, grandma, and great-grandma and will be dearly missed by all. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd., Winnipeg on Thursday, August 25 at 2:00 p.m. Donations in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society. Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Geoff told me that Aunty Patsy passed last week. My condolences to Rick & Willie & their family, Betty Anne & Randy & their family. I know you will miss your mother. I fondly remember those blueberry pies - no one can touch those. I also remember Christmas time when we would all get together for pictures in our pj's that she made. Great memories! God speed Aunty Patsy! - Posted by: Lauren Reece (McAllister) (Niece) on: Aug 26, 2016
