CHAMPAGNE It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Georges Raymond Champagne on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at the age of 81. Georges leaves to mourn his wife of 53 years Greta; son Raymond (Donna); two granddaughters, Carly and Jessica; sisters, Teresa Buors and Bernadette Champagne; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Christine and Alphonse Champagne; brothers, Roy Champagne and Joe Whitman. Georges worked as a Millwright for most of his life. Georges was in the army as a paratrooper for three years. Georges and his family resided in Coquitlam for 33 years until retirement and then moved back to Winnipeg. Funeral services will be held at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2016. Viewing will be held one half hour prior to service. Interment will follow at Brookside Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Albert Ducharme, Jason Thiessen, Rodney Lamirande, Nick Jackimec, Ray Buors and Gerry Buors. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 10-120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 4G2.
