R.G. (BOB) FISHER-SMITH R.G. (Bob) Fisher-Smith was promoted to Glory on Friday, September 9, 2016. He will be remembered as a Godly man, especially by his second wife, Simone, and children Brian, Grant (Mary), Naomi, and sister, Mary. Bob is also survived by stepchildren Richard and Lisa (Jeff), step-grandchildren Devon, Jinelle, Sheldon (Sofiya) and step-great-granddaughter, Rayyan. Born in Vulcan, Alberta, Bob moved with his parents across the country, but two cities would be home for him: Winnipeg and Ottawa. There were many aspects to his life, including his early exploits as a world class sprinter and Canadian record holder in the 60 yard sprint, and a career in business as a sign writer. As an accomplished artist specializing in watercolours, Bob made many people smile when he gave them his artwork as gifts. He was a loving father, step-father, and grandfather and will be remembered as a Godly influence. He loved to share the story of his personal conversion and was a Senior Soldier of the Salvation Army. Fond of reading, he enjoyed the works of William Booth and George Muller. While he will be missed, he is now safely home in the Lord's hands. As per Bob's wishes, a private service was held to celebrate his life. Those who so desire may make memorial donations to CancerCare Manitoba. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550

Bob and his wife Frances were in our lives for a number of years and we shared many dinners and cigars. I remember Bob Frances and the boys well. They were caring folks and I was better for having known them. - Posted by: Mike lavictoire (Old friend from ottawa) on: Jan 03, 2020

Bob and I ran against one another many years ago in the 440 yard dash. He was a wonderful fellow. RIP Bob you were great. - Posted by: Bob Cameron (Friend ) on: Jun 20, 2019

Bob was obviously a first class high school sprinter in the early 1960's when I was a high school track and field long jumper. He so impressed me that I photographed him in action, I being an avid amateur photographer at the time. I would show the photo here if it were possible. I never knew Bob personally, but with computer research I now am able to read of his accomplishments. Coincidentally I too have deep family roots in both Ottawa and Winnipeg and surrounding area. - Posted by: Glen MacDonald (Admirer) on: Nov 03, 2018
