SIMONE DUGUAY (née DUBOIS) October 17, 1925 - September 16, 2016 It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of our mother, Simone E. Duguay (nee Dubois). Simone passed away peacefully on Friday, September 16, 2016 at the St. Boniface Hospital. Simone was born in St. Anne, Manitoba but spent her adult life in Winnipeg, in the St. Boniface neighbourhood. She is survived by her husband Leo Grouette; her three children: Denis (Paulette Lemay), Louise (Denis Lavoie) and Annette (Dan Bruce); and her five stepchildren: Julie (Kevin Klym), Marc Grouette (Brenda), Monique (Al Davies), Louise (John Stockwell) and Denise (Dan Shepit). She loved all her grandchildren and leaves behind, 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and nine Grouette grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sister Germaine Harding, her brother Leo (Adele), and sister-in-law, Jeannette Duguay, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, Roland Duguay (1925 to 1965), her parents Adonai and Yvonne Dubois, and her siblings Roland, Agnes (Ken Landry), Denise (Germain Maguet), Roger (Bev) and Gerard. Mom spent most of her life working hard to support her children until her retirement from the Manitoba Public Insurance Corporation. She spent many wonderful summers with her family at Lac du Bonnet and later at Rock Garden Campground in Richer, Manitoba where she loved to play cards with family. She had many friends at l'Accueil Colombien. Her lifelong passion was classical music and she received great joy attending many Manitoba Chamber Orchestra concerts. She was deeply religious and enjoyed many pilgrimages with L'Armée de Marie. Later in life, she developed an interest in genealogical research which occupied much of her time. The family wishes to thank the support she received from the nurses in her last months and a special thank you to Dr. Coates for his compassion and care. We also wish to thank Pauline Faucher for her kindness and support during Mom's last years. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 23, 2016 at St. Boniface Cathedral with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice or to Les Fils de Marie in Quebec.
