LORRAINE DARLENE LOIS ANDREE
Born: Jan 21, 1956
Date of Passing: Sep 23, 2016
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLORRAINE DARLENE LOIS ANDREE January 21, 1956 - September 23, 2016 Peacefully, and surrounded by her loving family, Lorraine passed away on September 23, 2016. Lorraine was predeceased by her sister Vivian. She leaves behind the man she so truly loved Hannon Bell. He was her best friend, her rock, her sounding board and sometimes her loving punching bag. Left to cherish her memory are her mom and dad, Lois and Len Andree, her brother Brian (Susan), her sister Lisa (Daniel), and her much-loved nieces and nephews Elizabeth, Kyle, Veronica and Troy, whom she wanted to be her honorary pallbearers. She will also be sadly missed by many aunts, uncles and numerous cousins across Canada. Lorraine never cared for material things and would give up the world for her family. Lorraine was very close to her in-laws the late Rose and Leon Bell and adored her work mates, "her peeps", from both the 6th and 9th floors. Lorraine spent most of her life in Southdale, attended Windsor Park Collegiate and worked for the Government of Manitoba for 40+ years in various positions in several departments. Lorraine loved all the time she spent at Sandy Hook. She treasured the fall but without a doubt Christmas was her favourite time of year. She enjoyed creating culinary delights, especially her many extraordinary soups. To all of the doctors, nurses, health care aides and spiritual care at the Victoria General Hospital 4th floor, she wanted you to know how much she appreciated your gentle and caring ways, and for all your help and support. She developed many friendships with the staff at The "Vic" and the St. Boniface General Hospital. A celebration of Lorraine's life will be held at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodière Blvd., Sunday, October 2 at 2:00 p.m. with reception to follow. In gracious lieu of flowers, Lorraine wishes for donations to be made to The Canadian Cancer Society (Manitoba Division), Siloam Mission, or The Victoria General Hospital Foundation. Say not in grief "she is no more", but live in thankfulness that she was. Hebrew proverb Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550

I was so very sorry to learn of Lorraine's passing. Although I only worked with her for a short time, I loved every second of it. We laughed so much and had a great time while actually getting some work done. Lorraine's wit and sense of humour were second to none. She always looked at the bright side or at least could smile at the end of a difficult event. I truly enjoyed her company. My condolences to all. This is one lady who be truly and often missed and thought of. - Posted by: Gary Walker (Colleague) on: Oct 16, 2016

As a family friend since 1952, long before Lorraine was thought of, this horrible passing leaves me very sad and has stirred up many very pleasant memories. I have been lucky enough to be near by for the birth of all 4 of Andree's children. Hence known by all 4 as uncle Gary. My prayers go out to Hannon, Lois, Len, Lisa, and especially to Brian for the telephone call after Lorraines passing. Her beautiful voice shall be missed. Much love to all, Shirley and Gary Whyte. - Posted by: gary whyte (uncle) on: Sep 27, 2016

This is such sad news - I didn't see Lorraine often, but when I did, it was like no time had passed since our last chat. A warm, generous, lively soul - we will all miss her so much. - Posted by: Sheila Page (Friend and former co-worker) on: Sep 27, 2016

When you lived on a street like the one Lorraine grew up on in Southdale everyone knew each other. That is how I met Lorraine. Years later I worked with her at the Province of Manitoba. Lorraine loved to talk about her family and you knew she loved life and all her family. She will be missed. I met Lorraine through my cousin and also was fortunate enough to go to college with her. She was an amazing person, so much fun and full of life, always ready to go on an adventure and have fun, especially with her friends. She will no doubt be sorely missed by everyone whose life she ever touched. - Posted by: Sheree Hodson (Friend) on: Sep 27, 2016

I know I haven't known Lorraine as long as some, but with Lorraine it never took long for anyone to get a feeling of friendship from her. I think it was about 1993 when we crossed paths the first time, she in the Highways staff group and I taking on a new position in the North. Lorraine immediately gave me some initial insight into the workings and at the same time started ribbing me. I appreciated both. Lorraine probably could have been in theater, but I can't recall if she ever had told me she was. I watched her dad perform a few times long before I met Lorraine. I told her this, I'm sure, on our first meeting. You might guess that some of the first ribbing she gave me was age-related.......... She had an open heart to anyone she knew and gave everyone a sense of belonging. Part of her "schtick" was incessant injections of something funny that brought out one's smile. Talk about a great person to work with, especially when something difficult work-wise was on one's plate at that moment. Just know that I join you in what, I am sure, is a deep sense of loss for a wonderful lady gone too soon. Her friends, co-workers both past & present reach out to her family with the deepest respect for the person no longer among us in person, but forever in our memories. - Posted by: Bob Beavis (Co-Worker) on: Sep 27, 2016
