DAVE MCLEOD It is with heavy hearts the family regrets to announce the sudden passing of Dave Mcleod on Tuesday October 4, 2016 at age 70. Dave will be forever missed by his loving wife Carol of 51 years, his daughters Robin (Craig), Tracy (Mario) grandchildren Amber, Jean-Guy, and Aaron. Sisters Marianne Defoort, Arlene Mahadoo, Kathy Troller, brothers Mervin, Doug, Paul, Mark and their families. Dave was also survived by The Bright, Toyne, Walker, and Anthony families. Dave was that special uncle that everyone loved. Dave was predeceased by his parents Agathe and Peter, as well as his brother Dennis and sister Theresa. Dave was born at St. Boniface hospital on October 15, 1945 and lived his entire life in St. Vital. Dave started work at Eaton's right after graduating, then the Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries until March of this year. He was presently employed by his good friend Rob Crozier, as a representative for Decanter Wines. Dave loved all sports and played baseball, football, curling and hockey, but golf was his passion. A long time member at St. Boniface GC, Dave served on the board for six years, two of them as president. He also proudly represented Manitoba on several provincial golf teams, won the club championship eight times and won the Manitoba mid-amateur in 1996. "Big Mac" played hundreds of rounds with his many cherished longtime friends, far too many too name. In addition to his annual trip to Texas with his gang to hit the links for a month, Dave also looked forward to games with his Friday crew that included his nephew, John Walker. We are very thankful for our recent family trip to Florida and will forever cherish our memories. Although golf was a big part of his life, it paled to the love he had for his family especially his two cherished grandchildren. Dave had an infectious laugh, unique dance moves and a presence that made you happy just being in the same room as him. The family would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of support and kind words. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday October 12, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Boniface GC, 100 Youville St. In lieu of flowers, friends may make a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 200-6 Donald St, R3L 0K6. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550

  • I sat here this morning recalling over twenty years of the work, golf course and travelling stories. I knew how much all of his family meant to him, because he showed it and talked about it everyday we were together. He was one of the most generous men I have ever encountered. I know why he was always busy, because everyone wanted to be around him. I will deeply miss my times with him and want to offer my deepest condolences for Carol and the rest of his family. - Posted by: Don Ingram (Friend and coworker) on: Oct 12, 2016
