SANDRA CARBONI (KIBBINS, EVENDEN) February 21, 1955 - October 5, 2016 It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Sandra Carboni at Riverview Health Centre with husband Vince, son Jesse, brother Bill, and family by her side. Sandy was predeceased by her father Glen Evenden and numerous relatives, who she will be joining. Her memory will be cherished by her loyal husband Vince; son Jesse (Mim); grandson Bentley Kibbins; mother Dom Evenden; sister Judy Steski (Garry); brother Bill Evenden (Lori); and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Sandy was born in Winnipeg and raised in St. Vital. She attended Dakota Collegiate and furthered her studies at U. of M. nursing, graduating in 1978 with a B.N. Her love for helping people led to a career at Manitoba Health as a Government Liaison for South Eastman Health, working out of Ste. Anne, MB. She made numerous friends over the course of her 35 year career. Sandy's natural beauty, easy going warm personality, and witty sense of humour made her many friends that were easily drawn to her. Sandy had her beloved son Jesse in 1982 with her first husband Ron Kibbins in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She had a love for nature and animals and enjoyed many family trips to the Evenden camp at Clearwater Bay and later to the family camp at Tanis Lake. She adored her pets, her beloved huskies - Blue, Shadoe and Waya, and lastly Kluane. Through the years Sandy enjoyed travels to Clear Lake with the simple sounds of loons on the lake, going on wolf howls, and exploring. Sandy met Vince during a kayaking course in 2000 and they married in 2004. They enjoyed an active social life often getting out with family and friends. Sandy was introduced to further world travels with Vince to places, such as Florida, California, and the Caribbean. Her favourite trips were her three to Hawaii, which produced many stories of "Dukes on the Beach" in Waikiki. Sandy bravely faced a diagnosis of Alzheimer's in 2009. Even through this journey she remained a kind outgoing beautiful woman and kept a positive attitude. She still enjoyed trips to the lake, a deep passion for music, love of animals, helping people, and living in the moment. Through everything she still remembered all family and friends and had to make sure that everyone was happy and comfortable. Sandy and Judy toasted each time they got together to "hope and no fear", a tradition they carried on for many years. A funeral service remembering Sandy's life will be held at Glen Lawn Funeral Home (455 Lagimodiere Boulevard) on Friday, October 14, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. Flowers are gratefully declined. Should friends so desire, donations may be made in memory of Sandy to the Winnipeg Humane Society or the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550

Today as I look through the pages of the Dakota Alumni posts I found this obituary. It is to me such a loos. I hadn't seen Sandy since Dakota days (circa 1972). She was a true beauty in every aspect of her ways. I would have voted her mother of the year even back then. By her obituary, she lived up to those first impressions. She was a really good friend and I enjoyed knowing her. I am so saddened at her passing and offer my most sincere condolences to her family, even so long after her passing. - Posted by: Rick Thiessen (School friend and neighbour) on: May 06, 2022

Sadly, I just learned of Sandy's passing. I worked for Sandy at Manitoba Health. Sandy welcomed me into the work environment with open arms. Sandy was genuine, kind, warm and hillariously funny! She had the gift of turning any difficult situation into something light that would have everyone laughing to the point of tears. Sandy was the kind of person you never forget. She loved life and her positive attitude will leave an amazing legacy to her family of a life to model. - Posted by: Merrilyn Irvine (Co-worker) on: Jul 13, 2017

I was deeply saddened to learn of Sandy's passing. She was a treasured friend whose wonderful wit and warm compassion brought happiness to others. I loved our times together in nursing at the u of Manitoba and know how much joy being a mother to Jesse brought to her life. We lost touch when our lives good different directions but I will always remember her goodness. My condolences to Sandy's family, With love Linda Kristjanson, Australia - Posted by: Linda Kristjanson (Friend) on: Feb 20, 2017

Today with disbelief I received a phone call advising me of Sandy's passing. Firstly I send my sympathies to all members of her family who have lost someone so special. It has been many years, close to 40 in fact, that Sandy's path and mine diverged. I had always hoped that one day we might catch up with each other. Regrettably we did not, but if we had I would have thanked her for her close friendship during those formative years at Dakota and U of M. So many good memories. Hard to accept that she is no longer there to eventually receive a long overdue phone call or visit. I was pleased to read that Sandy had such a wonderful life, although far too short for someone who had so much more to give. Our condolences, hearts and prayers are with the Bill and Lori Evenden and Sandra's family on the loss of Sandra. We leave with a quote: "A limb has fallen from the family tree that says Grieve not for me. Remember the best times, the laughter, the song. The good life I lived while I was strong." - Posted by: Gerry and Dianna Mauthe (Friends of Bill and Lori.) on: Oct 13, 2016

My dear sweet friend for so many years when I lived in Winnipeg... Sandy, you truly are an inspiration and great adventurer. I always enjoyed our times together... You were the heart and soul of our school years at the University of Manitoba. Our times together, drinking tea... or maybe rum... and being there at Bird Lake and so many other places... I loved your optimism and happy ways... You have always inspired me... Thank you ... I love you my sweet Friend ! Maureen O'Toole, Nanaimo, BC - Posted by: Maureen O'Toole (Friend... I was shocked and saddened to read Sandy passed away, I worked with Sandy many years ago and unfortunately we lost touch with her over the years. I was unaware of her illness and was very sad to read she had lived with that horrible disease. Condolences to Vince and Jesse, RIP Sandy. - Posted by: Shauna (Friend/co worker) on: Oct 11, 2016
