KATHLEEN H. (THOMPSON) BEATSON The family of Kathleen H. (Thompson) Beatson is saddened to announce her passing on October 12, 2016, after a period of failing health. Kathleen was born in Moncton, New Brunswick on April 21, 1928 to Blair L. and Lillie E. (Biggs) Thompson. After moving to Winnipeg in 1945, when her father was transferred with the CNR, she met the first love of her life R. Bruce Beatson. Bruce and Kay were married for almost 62 years, before Bruce passed away in 2015. The second love of Kay's life were books. She enjoyed a lifelong love affair with reading and earned her BA in English in 1984, from the University of Manitoba. Kathleen is survived by her sister Norma L. Keith; her nieces, Dr. Kathy and Joanne, all of Saint John, NB and her nephew Allan and his wife Marie, of Quispamsis, NB. She is also survived by her great-nieces and nephews, Margaret, Gillian, Alexander, and Colin. Kathleen's family would like to thank the Saul and Claribel Simkin Centre (The Sharon Home) for the wonderful care that they gave her, especially the staff on Weinberg 2. Her niece, Joanne would also like to give a special thank-you to Inger Schnerch and Liv Furgale, who provided such loving friendship to Kathleen. A memorial service will take place on Monday, October 17, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from Brookside Cemetery).
