Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOROTHY YERYK It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts we announce the passing of Dorothy Alberta Yeryk (nee Olsen) on Saturday, October 8, 2016, at the age of 86. She will be greatly missed and forever loved by her children Bob (Joanne), Wayne (Sylvia), Cindy (Ken), and Lynn (Danny); her grandchildren Melissa (Dean), Nicole (Harmsy), Laura (Chris); and her great-grandchildren Hailey and Brooklynn. She was predeceased by her husband Walter in 1983, her son Kevin in 1998, and her daughter-in-law Laraine in 2014. Dorothy was born on March 25, 1930 in Bismarck, North Dakota. She grew up in Warroad, Minnesota where she met Walter Yeryk. They were married in 1950, living in numerous remote CN station houses in Manitoba with their children being born throughout Manitoba and the US. Mom was an avid reader and loved to watch her sports - figure skating, curling and cheering on the Canadian Olympic teams. As families grow and lives become busy, Mom was always there to lend a hand and support us. She was the centerpiece of our family, bringing us together for many gatherings. Her chicken noodle soup, perogies and famous garlic buns will be missed by all. Thank you to all the staff at St Boniface General Hospital for their outstanding caring and compassion. Cremation has taken place. In keeping with Mom's wishes, a private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association. www.seasonsfunerals.ca

Our heartfelt condolences to the entire family. I spent many days and nights, in my teen years, in the Yeryk household, and truly felt welcome and like a part of the family. Mrs. Yeryk referred to me as "dear", just as she did her own children. She was always laughing, and busy cooking something, before she went off to work the evening shift. Her demeanor was always warm and loving and the household was a happy one. She raised all her children to be the same, warm and loving people. The world has lost a beautiful soul, and heaven has gained another angel. Joyce and Ken Yuel - Posted by: Joyce Yuel (Family friend) on: Oct 15, 2016
