Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOMINGA ABANILLA MESA It is with great sadness to announce the passing of our beloved "Mama" on Tuesday, October 18, 2016, at the age of 94, at Health Sciences Centre, with family by her side. She was predeceased by her only son, Andres. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Nellie (Renato), Annie (Romy), Fely, Jing and Rose (Eugene); her grandchildren, Criselda, Rommel, Jayson, Sabrina (Ian), Darren (Clivia), Dan, Glen (Abbey), and Kim (Roel); her great-grandchildren, Jerome (Djanine), Jeffrey, Jerica, Mikayla, Raya, Aria, Theia, Djyllian, and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren in the Philippines. Mama was born August 4, 1922. She arrived in Canada November 6, 1979 with her daughter Rose to be reunited with her other daughter Fely. She worked a few years at a garment factory, and also as a companion at the Tuxedo Nursing Home. She then managed a laundromat on Isabel for many years. Mama's hobbies included completing word search puzzles, sewing, and watching her favourite shows such as Dallas, Mr. Bean, The Price is Right, The Young and the Restless, and her soap operas on TFC. Most of all, she enjoyed spending the occasional weekend on various bus tours to the casinos in the US, where she met many more friends. The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to their family friend, Luz Cuevas, one whom Mama has considered a daughter of her own, and her children Lyka and Will, for their loving care and attention, most especially during Mama's stay at the hospital. We would also like to express our thank yous to all those that took the time to visit Mama at the hospital. She remembered each and everyone of her visitors and appreciated your presence. Lastly, a special gratitude to the GA3 staff at HSC for their dedicated efforts and accommodations during her post-surgery and leading up to her final days. Mama displayed true strength and had a sharp memory until her very last breath. She was devoted to the Catholic community, prayed continuously and encouraged faith into her children and grandchildren. She lived her life to the fullest being surrounded by her family. Her sweet personality, humour, care for others and her contagious smile will be forever missed. We love you Mama. Thank you for your endless love.
