Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryERNEST EDWARD FREDERICK THORNQUIST In loving memory of Ernie who passed away October 6, 2016 after a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer's disease at the age of 80 years. Ernie was born in Winnipeg on March 23, 1936, spending his childhood and completing his education there. He was proud of his service in the RCAF Reserve where he attained the rank of pilot officer. He then began a 25 year career in Air Traffic Control working at the Lakehead, Frobisher Bay NWT, Toronto and Winnipeg. After an early retirement, he retrained in travel and tourism, relocating to BC where he owned one travel agency in Vancouver and two in White Rock. Ernie had a great sense of humour and loved practical jokes. He had a smile and a warm hello for everyone he met. He loved to travel but his favourite destination was Hawaii. He was passionate about classic cars, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Johnny Cash and he loved milkshakes. Ernie was predeceased by his parents Betty and Otto and siblings Leonard, Hilma, Edith and Victor. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife Diane, of 44 years, our children Dinos, Alan (Patsy), Eric, Susan (Brian), Michael, and Jeffrey (Sandra) as well as grandchildren Elicia, Melina, Justin, Summer, Ashley, Asia, and other family and friends. He was also predeceased by his first wife Polly, mother of Dinos and Eric. Our sincerest thanks to the dedicated caregivers at Czorny Alzheimer Centre who guided and cared for him on his journey. A celebration of Ernie's life will be held at a later date. If so desired, memorial tributes may be made to the Alzheimer Society. Always in our thoughts Forever in our hearts
