MIKE POYSER Peacefully, on Thursday, October 27, 2016 after a two-year battle with Leukemia, Mike passed away at the age of 57 years. As was his wish, Mike was home spending his remaining time with people who meant the most to him. Remaining to forever cherish Mike's memory are his wife Denise; daughter Miranda; step-son Christopher; brother Vaughan and wife Leah; sister Madelaine; nieces and nephews, Steven, Sammie, Pierre (PJ), Quinn, Caley, Lindsay and Becca; as well as many more family, friends and loved ones. He was predeceased by his parents Lindsay and Evelyn Poyser; and sister-in-law Pat Benner. As an avid biker, Mike loved riding his bike year-round. He loved bonfires in the backyard with family and friends, working on his home, fishing on the banks of the rivers, and puttering in his yard and garden. Fall was Mike's favorite time of year but he found joy in all the seasons. A Celebration of Mike's Life will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2016 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in ANAVETS #1, 1395 Ellice Avenue at Empress Street. Thank you to the Nurses, Doctors and Staff of GD6 and the BMT clinic. You were such a support throughout. A very special thank you to June and Roy for their extraordinary help and support. Thanks to all the wonderful people at Standard Aero and WSP who supported us through this time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mike's name to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3E 0V9. • My family moved into a house two doors down from Mike on Lindsay Street in River Heights when we were 7 years old. We quickly became best friends and had many adventures and misadventures together as we were growing up. He was always a fun companion who enjoyed life to the fullest, was up for new challenges (such as climbing onto the roofs of all the schools in the neighbourhood), and was a loyal and generous friend, happy to share even if he didn’t have much to share. Although I moved away from Winnipeg when we were in our twenties, whenever I looked him up when passing through town, he was the same true blue friend I remembered. During the conversations we had over the last couple of years, he was unfailingly positive, courageous and grateful for the life he lived and the experiences and opportunities he had had – he was the embodiment of what Ernest Hemmingway described as “grace under pressure.” I looked up to him, loved him, and will sorely miss him. Rest in peace, my brother. - Posted by: Robert Harding (Friend) on: Nov 03, 2016
