Date of Passing: Nov 29, 2016
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDITH (EDIE) IRENE VINCENT November 15, 1932 - November 29, 2016 It is with deep sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Edie at the age of 84 on November 29, 2016 after a battle with cancer. Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband Syl, of 63 years, son Jeff, daughter Sandy (Maurice), son Robert, grandchildren Maxwell and Samuel, and great-grandson Mason. Edie was born in St. Boniface to her parents George and Sara Glass. She met the love of her life there and they married in 1953. They raised three children while living in Manitoba and Quebec. Edie spent some time volunteering at the Douglas Hospital while living in Quebec and worked in the offices at Eaton's when she returned home to Winnipeg. They enjoyed many weekends at the lake in Lac Du Bonnet until they moved there permanently in the early 1990s. Over the years Edie travelled with her husband to many wonderful places, many cruises, and enjoyed numerous winters in Florida and then in Arizona. She had a wide group of relatives and life-long friends that she enjoyed spending time with and cherished their friendship, love and support. In the past few years she enjoyed her Thursday afternoon lunches with the ladies. She was a wonderful, caring person and we will miss her. A come and go celebration of Edith's life will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Monday, December 5, 2016 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd., Winnipeg. A private interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550

My deepest sympathy for your loss of your wife, mother and grandmother. She was one hell of lady! I am so grateful to Jeff for allowing me the opportunity to spend time getting to know her and all of you. You are an incredible family, one I know, she was so very proud of. I loved, loved, loved her comments and contributions to our conversations and her comfort to always say what was on her mind. My gosh, she could always surprise me and make me laugh. With that, I wear a smile from ear to ear. Her continual thoughtfulness and love that she and Syl have always shown me, is the glue that holds me to your family and my heart to her memories. You are one very lucky family to have had her love in your lives! As grief sinks deeper with each passing day, my heart hurts for all of you. I can only imagine, the extent of the pain and sadness you all now share. She was one of the strongest and most determined ladies I have ever had the pleasure of knowing and hope you find comfort in the loving memories you have of the cherished times you shared together. Edie was strong and happy to the end of a life that she celebrated with every opportunity she embraced. Heaven has gained another angel with a smile that will light the skies forever.
