Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMITCHELL GACH It is with deep sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Mitch on Thursday, December 1, 2016 surrounded by his family. He enjoyed celebrating his 83rd birthday with his family at the Teulon hospital just days before his passing. Mitch will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife Irene of 57 years and their children, Gary (Cindy), Donna (Ed), Lori (Cam), Cindy (David); grandchildren, Mitchell (Courtney), Evan, Amanda (Sam), Gary, Brittany (Ray), Lauren (Slade), Taylor, Madison; great-granddaughter Chloe and extended family, friends and neighbors. Mitch was predeceased by his parents Annie and Steve Gach and his in-laws Andrew and Olga Chapko. Mitch was born on November 26, 1933 in Cooks Creek, Manitoba where he attended Zora School. He met his wife Irene (nee Chapko) at a hockey game in Highland Glen and later married on July 11, 1959. They built their home in Cooks Creek where they raised their family. Mitch loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchild. He enjoyed being surrounded by them and had "picnic time" whenever they visited. Dad was a homebody but enjoyed family and friends stopping by and always made them feel welcome with a drink and food on the table. He enjoyed listening to the Ukrainian hour religiously on Saturdays and no one dared to change the station. Mitch worked for CNR for 33 years as a welder where his craft lead him to iron work that allowed him to create many yard ornaments and gates that can still be seen throughout the neighborhood. He also enjoyed gardening and had several vegetable gardens in his yard and his old homestead. His love for cooking was expressed at every family gathering and his recipes for soup, turkey stuffing and other delicacies will be passed down. We are all so blessed to have had such an amazing man in our lives and he will live on forever in our hearts. The family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Vattheuer, the staff at Teulon Hospital and Homecare for their wonderful care and compassion. We would also like to thank Holly at Seasons Funeral Chapel for her thoughtfulness during this very difficult time. As per Mitch's wishes, a private family celebration of his life has already been held. The family appreciated all the thoughts and prayers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba. Rest in Peace Dad Vichnaya Pamyat seasonsfunerals.ca

My love and condolences to you Aunty Irene and the family. I will forever cherish the wonderful memories that I have of Uncle Mitch. Sleep overs when I was a kid and the delicious soup he would make. yum! The polka music playing as he chair danced at the table. Tales of the bunnies, chickens and roosters still make me laugh. And "Thrills" that purple gum even though I didn't like them I would take them because Uncle Mitch would always say "they're good" lol. Best of all was his smile when he was entertained it was the best and when you asked him to smile for the camera he was a ham. Love you Uncle Mitch and you will be deeply missed. - Posted by: Dawn Fisher (Niece ) on: Dec 10, 2016

My condolences to the Gach family on the loss of their loved one. As Madison's school bus driver awhile back, it was always a highlight when I got the order from Madison, "I'm going to Gigi's after school today". As we approached Gigi's driveway he would be waiting at the end of it in his golf cart anticipating Madison's arrival. He would always wave at me and smile. That gesture made my day. Maddy would scurry off the bus and ran over to jump in beside Gigi and give him a big hug at which time he would wave me off and head back to the house and I am sure for some homemade cookies fresh from the oven. I only knew him from a distance but knew he was a kind soul that loved his Maddy, and all of his grandchildren. Madison, you were "the apple of his eye" and you will cherish all of those memories with your Gigi. ❤️hugs Mrs. Walker - Posted by: Diane Walker (friend) on: Dec 07, 2016

My deepest condolences to Irene and her family on the loss of your husband Mitchell. Was very upset to hear the news, he was a wonderful man and he was proud of the family that he raised. I only knew your family for a short time but you all made a deep impression on all of us at Teulon Hospital. Take care and we are all thinking of you at this time. - Posted by: Michelle hazelton (Health care aide(Teulon hospital)) on: Dec 03, 2016
