Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDAVID OWEN PALUBESKI (1950 - 2016) It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing our father, husband, grandfather and friend, David Owen Palubeski on December 11, 2016. He is survived by his beloved wife Patti Lacey, sons Brandon Powell (Erin Madden) and Jon Powell (Diana), daughters Samantha Lacey-Avon (Stefan) and Stephanie Lacey-Avon (Adam), grandsons Kaeden and Weston and granddaughter Sydney. Also mourning his loss are his brother Glen (Debbie), sister-in-law Bonnie Coulas, brother-in-law Don Taylor, nieces April and Laynia, great nephew Alex, mother-in-law Ev Lacey and many other family members and close friends. Dave was predeceased by his father Desmond, mother Dorene, brother Mark, and sister-in-law Wendy Lacey. Since 1984 Dave has been the principal owner of Lombard North Group in Winnipeg. Dave was very driven and dedicated to his profession as an urban and regional planner and more recently as a real estate developer. Dave achieved many professional accomplishments and was known for a legendary work ethic, a creative approach, limitless passion and genuine integrity. Moreover, for over 40 years, Dave has been active in the governance of many associations, boards and committees from the local to the international level. Dave's attitude and heartfelt dedication to his work and the improvement of the planning community has made him a lifelong friend, colleague and mentor to many. His company has won numerous awards of excellence over the years, with Dave ultimately being nominated and granted the distinction of Fellow by the College of Fellows of the Canadian Institute of Planners. Dave had a unique ability to connect with people from all walks of life. His sense of humour, joie de vivre, and infectious spirit garnered love and respect for a multi-faceted man with a simple purpose to enjoy life to the fullest extent. Dave had many passions. He enjoyed fishing, playing hockey, golf, tennis, scuba diving, boating and travelling, along with his newest passion of playing and singing with his grandchildren. Dave was happiest when spending time with family and friends at his cabin on Lake of the Woods. It was there he would revel in entertaining visitors, preparing gourmet meals, playing crib and enjoying drinks on the dock. The family would like to offer their thanks to Dave's business partners, and the many friends and extended family members who have reached out over the past several days. A special thanks to the staff at Lombard North Group for their strength and perseverance during these difficult times. A memorial service will take place at 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Saturday, December 17 at the Caboto Centre at 1055 Wilkes Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba. A loyal and generous steward for the Winnipeg community, the family encourages those wanting to honour Dave's memory to make a donation to a local charity of their choice. I was very saddened when I heard the news. I have known David for over 25 years, first as a client, who quickly became a friend. I send my condolences to his family in this time of loss. David was a very creative, visionary land planner and businessman. He operated at a high professional level, and was excellent in dealing with people, always seeking a compromise position, where no one side lost, but everyone also won to a certain degree. He loved his family, the Lake, his hockey and his cars. He assembled a first class team at Lombard North, who were professional but also got along famously. David will be greatly missed. - Peter Harris - Posted by: Peter Harris (Friend and Client) on: Dec 17, 2016

Only the good die young kinda sums it up! I first meet Dave several years ago over a mutual fascination with cars! Since then the discussion ensued over a variety of other subjects of mutual interest from China to land development to sports and anything! Dave who is still with us all is a Renaissance Man. However I soon connected Dave to Patty the quiet yet strong willed lady whom he always seemed to defer to on the Tennis front and I am sure in other areas of life! and spoke of very loving and adoring terms! To Patty and Dave's family whom I have not met my deepest sympathy!! - Posted by: Ken Wilk (tennis compadre) on: Dec 15, 2016

We offer our sincerest condolences to Dave’s family and all those who worked with him at LNG. Our consulting engineering firm had the opportunity to work with Dave on several projects. We enjoyed working with Dave, and have fond memories of the long car rides to meet with various remote rural and First Nation clients. All of us at JRCC who had to the opportunity to work with Dave remember him as friendly and fun-loving, but a true professional dedicated to his work. He will be missed. - Posted by: Jerry Cousin and the staff of J R Cousin Consultants (Friend through our consulting engineering services) on: Dec 15, 2016
