Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALICE DIANA SPARROW April 7, 1935 - December 20, 2016 It is with great sadness after a brief illness that we announce the passing of our dear Alice Sparrow on December 20, 2016. Alice leaves to cherish her memory, her nephews, Richard Avery and Bruce (Sandra) Avery and families of London, Ontario. Alice will also be missed by her cousin Margaret (Darrell) Fierheller including other relatives and friends. Alice was predeceased by her parents Harry and Georgina Sparrow, and her sister Janet Avery. Alice graduated from nursing in 1956 in Thunder Bay and then started to work at the Grace Hospital, and over the years of nursing Alice went from a staff nurse to the Director of the Operating Room before her retirement in 1995. Alice always wanted to see the world and over the years she made her dreams come true. She visited every continent and places such as Kathmandu, the Galapagos, Egypt and an African Safari. Alice loved the equestrian events and went to Spruce Meadows yearly. Watching figure skating was a passion of Alice's along with playing bridge with her bridge group. While at home, she was always busy training her shelties and one schipperke. She enjoyed competing with them and trialed them in Canada, U.S.A., and Bermuda achieving many obedience titles. Alice was an amazing ambassador for the dog obedience world and the sheltie breed. Alice was a kind and gentle soul and we will miss her dearly. Cremation has taken place. A private family interment will take place in the spring at St. Andrew's on the Red Anglican Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Alice's memory to a charity of one's choice.
