Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFEDELIA MARGARET ELIZABETH (BETTY) THOMAS (nee YOUNG) March 5, 1922 - December 19, 2016 It is with sad hearts and heartfelt memories that we announce the passing of our mum, Betty Thomas at 94 years. Betty was predeceased by her loving husband David Dean Thomas in 1984, both of Brandon, Manitoba. She leaves to mourn her three sons, Paul (Maggie), George (Ingi) and Jim. Mum leaves one grandson Owen (Elena), and brand new great-granddaughter April Elizabeth. Mum and Dad moved to Winnipeg where Mum was employed by the Winnipeg School Board. She lived in Winnipeg until her retirement enjoying her cottage at Matlock, MB and spent her last active years in Comox, BC where she discovered the best dog-walking trails and met new friends. Mum led a very active life. She had many dogs in her lifetime that brought her great joy and companionship. There are numerous nieces, nephews, friends and one remaining stepsister, Vona Clayton...all will remember her fondly. By her request there will be no formal service and in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the local SPCA. Interment will take place in Winnipeg this spring. God bless her soul.

My sincerest condolences on the loss of your Mom. Betty was such a force of nature, who had a great sense of humour, would certainly call a spade a spade and had such a wonderful way with words -- including her love of crosswords and writing letters. Betty had a tremendous love for her children and grandson and nobody loved her four legged kids more than her. I lost my wonderful Mom this year too and although we were lucky to both have our mothers until they were 94, and people will say "well she lived a long life", it's still your mother and it doesn't matter how old she was........your mother is your first friend and the loss is heart breaking. Hold on to your memories....forever they'll remain. - Posted by: Donna Kolbuck-Street () on: Jan 06, 2017
