BRIAN THOMAS EDWARD WILKINSON December 4, 1966 - December 31, 2016 It is with broken hearts that we say goodbye to our beloved father, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend. Ed was born on December 4, 1966 in Winnipeg, Manitoba where he lived his life. When not at home enjoying time with family and friends, he was roaming the country's highways in the 18-wheeler rigs that he loved to drive. The Canadian highways were Ed's second home. Even as a child, Ed would pretend to be like his dad, driving the big trucks. His childhood dream became a lifelong career as a professional transport driver. Ed enjoyed camping and being on the lake with fishing rod in hand, and continued the tradition with his own children. A highlight of his fishing days was the proud designation of Master Angler. Ed is survived by his three children Gage, Brian and David, of whom he was so proud; his mother Gwen Hoare, sisters Beverley (Ed) Smadella, Wendy (Neal) Cowie, Lynne Wilkinson (John Gavloski), half-sister Krysta Wilkinson, nephews Michael and Joseph Smadella, Steven (Kirsten) Cowie, and niece Brianne Cowie. He is also survived by step-siblings Ellen (Jim) Scarrow, Brenda (Bill) Paley, Kris (Kathy) Hoare, Karla (Terry) Hoare, step niece and nephews, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Ed was predeceased by his father Brian Wilkinson and stepfather Roy Hoare. Ed will be sadly missed. His quick wit, teasing personality, sarcastic humour, sentimental and compassionate heart will be lovingly remembered. May you rest in God's hands, dear Edward, enjoying the open roads and the fish filled lakes. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Association. Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at the St. George's Anglican Church, 321 Pandora Ave. W., Winnipeg, MB, with reception to follow.
