RICHARD PAUL FREDETTE It is with great sadness that we have to inform everyone of Richard's passing at a young age of 51, on December 30, 2016 at 4:30 p.m. He succumbed to four and a half years battling pancreatic cancer. He is survived by his loving and caring mom Simone, his loved children Devon (Carly), Jinelle (Tango), his children were always #1 in his life; his dear friend Katy (his spitfire) who was always there for him; Freddy (his faithful companion) who was a comfort to him throughout his whole sickness; sister Lisa, Jeff (Sheldon), biological family Linda and Randy. He leaves to mourn numerous family members and copious friends. Richard worked for the City of Winnipeg sign shop becoming shop foreman at a very young age. Over the years with the city he made long standing friendships. Richard's positive and happy outlook towards life made him a very uplifting person to be with. He spread laughter wherever he was. He will be remembered with fond memories. His favourite saying "when life gets tough, look around, it could be worse". Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Emile Parish, 556 St. Anne's Road. A private family interment will take place at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. Family wish to thank everyone who was there to support him through his long battle. Special thanks to CancerCare and staff who gave him such loving and excellent care. Instead of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Richard to the St. Boniface Hospital CancerCare. "I'm in a better place. If you don't believe me; you can ask me!" I worked with Richard in Traffic Services for a few years. He always had a smile on his face and was a pleasure to work with. I remember when his children were young he brought them to a company family fun day. He beamed as he introduced them to co-workers and was a doting dad. Godspeed Richard....you will be missed. - Posted by: Cathy Penner (Co-Worker) on: Jan 09, 2017

My parents moved our family out to AB back in 1965, for the jobs. ... we missed growing up with our cousins back in MB... some of us even lost our own language! Back when our parents would visit back & forth, Richard was one of my favourite cousins, always ready to welcome us with open arms & warm smiles! My Dad passed away in 2013, he was our link to that place, all those people ....One of family reunion memories I have is of Dad and Richard, sharing jokes, both having hearty laughs! Rest in Peace and Light, Richard! - Posted by: Denise Dubois (Cousin ) on: Jan 07, 2017

Richard was a wonderful man and we spent many years working together at the City of Winnipeg public works expo. He was amazing at the signs he made for our event and was a great part to our team. His expertise was appreciated by all of us and his laughter could make our meetings seem like fun, not work. He will truly be missed. He fought a a long, hard battle and can now join my Wayne for a round of golf and a laugh. Miss you my friend, till we meet again!💜 - Posted by: Terry-Lynne Hause (Welling-Skorodenski) (Co-worker) on: Jan 07, 2017
