Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFRANCES POLLOCK It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Frances Pollock who died peacefully, in her residence at Extendicare Eaux Claires in Edmonton, Alberta, on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at the age of 86 years. Frances was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba in March of 1930, attended Daniel McIntyre High School, graduating in 1947. After high school, the family moved from Winnipeg to Vancouver, and then from Vancouver to Lethbridge. She was married to Sidney Pollock in Lethbridge in 1952 and remained with him until his passing in 1997. Mrs. Pollock is survived by sons: Alan (Susan), Ronald, and Gordon; siblings Jim Neufeld (Marilyn) and Sylvia Andres; grandchildren: Catherine (Aaron) Oevering, Christine (Kory) Christianson, Keely and Veronica Pollock; and great-grandchildren: Emily and William Oevering. She was predeceased by her parents - Jim and Agnes Neufeld, her husband Sidney, and her brother-in-law Mel Andres. Mrs. Pollock's passion was music. She was an accomplished soprano soloist and pianist, participating in high school musicals, the Winnipeg Girls' Choir, the First Baptist Church Choir, and music festivals, winning the Alberta Music Festival Open Soprano Competition in 1952. Mrs. Pollock also worked at the University of Lethbridge library for 20 years. She and her husband Sid raised three boys, trying valiantly to teach them piano. She was a lovely lady with a strong will, who loved to laugh. She loved her family with all her heart. Her favourite times were spent with her family on camping trips (mainly to Rosen Lake) and outings to Waterton Lakes National Park. Later in life, she enjoyed her time gardening and relaxing on the beaches of Mexico. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at McKernan Baptist Church, 11103-76 Avenue, Edmonton, AB. Thanks for the memories - we will miss you dearly.
