RONALD MALCOLM MAIDMENT 1931 - 2017 Peacefully, on January 16, 2017, Ronald Maidment passed away at the age of 85. Ron is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Marina (Rina) Maidment; his daughters, Andrea (Ken) Knapp, Lynne (Pat) Gray, Janet (Ken) High, Julie (Brent) Wall; his son Michael (Angie) Maidment and their families. Ron was born in South Wales, Great Britain on August 8, 1931 to parents, Sir Walter and Alice Maidment. Ron had four brothers, Victor, Colin, Ivor and Keith, and one sister Shirley. In 1952, Ron married Elizabeth Campbell and was soon deployed to Singapore to serve in the Corps of Royal Engineers for the British Army, where he received a medal for Distinguished Service. In 1954, he returned to Wales and Ron and Rina had four daughters. In 1965, they immigrated to Winnipeg and had their son. Ron was a reliable and hardworking man. He was a welder and machinist, and started his career in Winnipeg at Dominion Bridge. Ron was a devoted, long serving member of the Masons, the Order of the Eastern Star and the Shriners. As he aged, he and Rina fondly remembered their family and friends in Wales, their many friends from Home Street, their trips to Patricia Beach with the Townsleys and many great times spent fishing and at their cottage. Ron took great pride in his five children, 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. A memorial service was held at Dakota House on January 20, 2017. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Khartum Shriners Burn Institute. Ron will be greatly missed by family and friends. Rest in Peace. www.voyagefuneralhome.com
