PAUL JULES DESILETS It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Paul Desilets at the age of 94. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Ida; daughter Pat (Raymond), sons Ron (Laurell) and Scott ( Linda); grandchildren Christine (Richard), David (Helen), Lisa, Marc, Paul, Aaron (Sarah), Adam and great-grandsons Gavin and Nikolas; his brothers in law Leo Allard and Denis Allard (Lorraine) and many nieces and nephews. Paul was born in Fannystelle, MB in 1922, moved to Pine Falls at the age of four where he grew up. He started his career working in the lab at the Abitibi Paper Mill. In 1941 he enlisted in the R.C.A.F. proudly serving his country until he was discharged in 1945 as a Pilot Officer - Air Bomber. Paul returned to Pine Falls where he opened and operated an ESSO service station until 1957 at which time he moved his family to West Vancouver operating an ESSO station there. In 1958 an opportunity arose for him to enter into partnership to own and operate a hotel in Prince Rupert, BC. The family relocated to Winnipeg in 1961 where Paul began his long career with the City of Winnipeg. As well as working full time, Paul's entrepreneurial spirit continued as he owned and operated numerous successful real estate ventures. Paul enjoyed many long years of retirement including a week-long horseback trail ride in the Rocky Mountains, a month-long solo trip to Alaska in his 1984 Dodge travel van and many happy fishing trips (adventures) with his friend Sol Michaud. Family life was very important to Paul and what brought him the most pleasure was time spent with family and friends at the cottage at St. Malo. He loved gardening, playing cards and working around the yard. Special thanks to Stephanie, Marion, Natalie, Michelle, Jean, Marc, Barrie, Marvelle and all those who supported Paul and the family during the last few months. Our gratitude to the wonderful staff at Foyer Valade who provided excellent compassionate care to Paul in his final days. Celebration of Paul's life will take place at Glen Lawn Funeral Home at 455 Lagimodiere Blvd on Wednesday, February 1 at 2:00 p.m. If family and friends desire, donations may be made to Actionmarguerite/Foyer Valade or to a charity of their choice.
