MAUDE POIRIER (nee MCDONALD) Lovingly known as Mac, Maudie, Mommy-Maude, Maudie-mum! Maude was born in Winnipeg, MB December 3, 1931 and was part of a large family with five brothers and four sisters. She attended Lord Selkirk School.Maudie was in the Canadian Air Forces from 1954 - 1958 where she met the love of her life Roger. They moved from Sainte-Sylvestre Quebec to Goose Bay to Ottawa and then to Montreal. She enjoyed a 20-year career with Bell Canada in Dorval, QC as a Manager until her retirement in 1993. She and Roger moved to Kingston in 1993 to enjoy their Golden years. In Kingston, she worked for over ten years for the Salvation Army Community and Family Services Volunteer Income Tax Clinic. Maudie told many stories of growing up in "Winnie-peg/Pinnie-weg". She really cherished her siblings and kept in touch with them all throughout the years. Even the distance didn't keep them apart as many phone calls were made and family reunions held. She particularly loved spending time with brother Bill and wife Gwen at the cottage near Haliburton and bringing the boys there during the summertime. Maudie was a great story-teller and kept us laughing recanting fun times with her family and friends. She loved her grandchildren, enjoyed hearing about their adventures, and was so proud of the wonderful adults they have become with families of their own. It was a very special time for Maudie to hold her first great-grandchild just over three years ago! Maudie leaves behind her husband of over 60-years, Roger, her sons Bob, Rick (Kim), Phil (Chris), daughter-in-law Deirdre, grandchildren Lisa-Jane (Felix), Jennifer (Brent) and Shaun (Hayley), Vincent and great-grandchildren Malcolm, Simone, Aria, and Mila. She also leaves two very dear sisters Dorothy (Al) and Florence (Bob), and many nieces and nephews from the McDonald and Poirier families! The family expresses our deepest thanks to the staff at Providence Manor for their kindness and care for Maude these past few months. We shall all miss her deeply, but think happier thoughts that she is with her beloved sisters and brothers. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Gordon F. Tompkins Funeral Home - Central Chapel, 49 Colborne Street (at Clergy Street) on Saturday, April 29, 2017 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Maude's name to a charity of your choice. Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • To all of Maude's extended family. Truly saddened to hear of her passing . I and many of the Bell Boys from 200 Bouchard have plenty of memories working with and for Maude over the years at Bell, especially our small family from the Graphics department where Maude was "Mom" to many. RIP my friend . - Posted by: Steve Stoddart (friend) on: Feb 04, 2017

  • Our deepest condolences to Uncle Roger and the entire Poirier family. We always enjoyed Maude's vists to Winnipeg and can clearly remember how she was always quick to laugh. Aunty Maude had a wonderful gift of putting people at ease and engaging them in easy conversation. - Posted by: Jeff Redmond (Great-nephew (Carol's son) ) on: Feb 04, 2017
