Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryREMI BEERNAERTS With sadness we announce the passing of Remi Beernaerts on January 23, 2017, at the age of 85, in Victoria, BC. Remi will be greatly missed by his wife of 29 years, Nancy, her children and grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends in Manitoba. He was predeceased by his brother Leon Beernaerts, his sister Rachel Vermeire, and his first wife Enid Pouteau. Remi was born in Swan Lake, Manitoba where he farmed for many years. When he retired from farming he indulged his passion for building and renovating houses and restoring motorhomes. He was always eager to lend his skillful hand to a new project. After his move to Victoria 10 years ago, he enjoyed a more relaxed west coast lifestyle. Those who knew and loved him will always remember his kind, quiet disposition and happy smile. In respect of Remi's wishes, cremation has taken place and interment in Swan Lake, Manitoba will follow at a later date. A special thank you to his family physician, Dr. John Coburn and the staff at the Victoria General Hospital (Victoria, BC) for helping to make Remi's last weeks as comfortable as possible. Donations in memory of Remi may be made to the BC Cancer Foundation.
