SUSAN WHITE 1946 - 2017 Susan left us peacefully on Thursday, February. 9, 2017. She was entirely surrounded by her loving family and all of her angels. Susan spent her early years with her posse; "sister" Carol, Pat C., and Sandy S. in Medicine Hat. In 1962 the family packed up like the Clampetts, including Granny in the back seat and she, Sandy, Pat, Shelley, Mom and Dad, R.J. "Slim" and Anne Cook arrived in Winnipeg. Brother David stayed behind, having somehow dwelt in the basement for years; he may have been misplaced. Susan worked for CTV and later as a producer in the Variety department of CBC TV. There, she worked with the likes of Graham Shaw and Bryan Adams and on numerous shows including the highly popular series, "Breakaway". If you heard properly written English on any of those shows it was Susan's doing; she was a master of the language and just had to correct grammatical errors, even if you didn't want her to. Susan loved classical literature, beautiful turns of phrase; and in comedy, the perfect line. We will so miss her raucous laugh. She cared so deeply for all of us and wanted for each of us to reach our full potential. We will miss you Sue, but feel your presence every day. Love you forever! In lieu of flowers, Susan's family requests a donation in her name to the St. Boniface Hospital Foundation. Loving spouse, Greg; grateful and devoted children, Michael and Dayna and all the rest of our family express much gratitude for the efforts made by the loving and caring staff of the MICU unit who were wonderful, each and every one of them. This spring the family will gather in Medicine Hat to celebrate Susan's life. For just a moment The colour left the rainbows Dark clouds covered up the sun Cold rain spilled from the sky Then suddenly the sun returned The most beautiful rainbow appeared Children's laughter filled the air And the songs of beautiful birds perched in the trees And I knew that you were still here with us And I was filled with joy for all that you shared with me For what now seems Was just a moment Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • My condolences to you Greg, Dayna and Micheal. So sorry to hear this news and I wanted to let you know you're in my thoughts at this time. - Posted by: Gil Tetreault (Friend and coworker) on: Feb 22, 2017

  • Two things stand out when I think about Susan: her high level of literacy and her devotion to her family. When she was pregnant with Michael, I remember her telling me that as much as she loved her work in television, taking care of her beautiful baby boy had to come first. And she was over the moon when Dayna arrived. Susan was bright, talented and just plain nice. I know how much she will be missed by her family.....my deepest sympathy. - Posted by: Ms Frankie Glickman (CBC Colleague) on: Feb 18, 2017

  • Susan was one of those people who made you a better person. She played a role in my decision to move too Winnipeg. Her encouragement, help and gentle guidance in my first production involving CBC Winnipeg showed me how the creative process should work. I will forever be grateful for her bemused smile when running an idea by her. Then coming in the next day to see that somehow she made it come to life. She was a doer. A good heart has stopped beating. To Greg, Dana and Michael, I hope the love and caring of family and friends can bring you some comfort in these difficult times.
