GORDON SAYWELL It is with heavy hearts the family announces the passing of their beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather Gordon Saywell on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 with family by his side. Gord will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 48 years Ann; his six children, Diane Saywell, Janice Saywell, Kenny (Aline), Carolyn (Terry) Sayer, Barb (Mike) Ferniuk, Chris (Jennifer) Saywell; and 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, plus his many golfing, curling, and travelling friends. Gord was born on January 18, 1928 in Winnipeg. He joined the Fire Department in December 1952, where he served 37 years, retiring as district chief in January 1990. He enjoyed many different activities throughout his life such as; bowling, fishing, golfing, curling, travelling, and most importantly being with his family and friends. Gord was an avid golfer and began the sport at the age of 12 and continued to golf regularly, as a member of the Transcona Golf Club, until the age of 88. Curling was another passion of his, where he curled at the Fort Garry Curling Club for many decades right up until his death. Gord loved to travel! He travelled across most of Canada with his family when his children were young, as well as many trips to different states. He also travelled abroad to several tropical places such as Australia, Panama, many cities in Mexico and countless others. The last ten years he was able to travel to many of these destinations with his wife, daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Terry. Gord was also a family man, never missing any special occasion, a football or hockey game for grandkids, or any reason to be with his family. WE LOVE YOU DAD!!! A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday March 20, 2017 at Glen Lawn Reception Centre, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Firefighters Burn Fund. I am so sorry to hear about your dad's passing. I know that it is a difficult time for you and your family. I know that you and your family had a special relationship with him. I hope that those memories will help you through the days ahead and ease the pain of his loss. He sounded like a very warm and caring man with a great sense of humour. Take care my friend. In deepest sympathy Joanne - Posted by: Joanne Bevilacqua (Friend of Carloine) on: Mar 06, 2017
