ANTONIOS KILOPOULOS Antonios Kilopoulos was born on November 6, 1928, in the village of Kolindros, Greece. He grew up working on the family's tobacco and cotton farm. He enlisted in the Greek army and fought in the Korean war between 1953 and 1954. The Greek participation in the Korean War was highly recognized by the South Koreans as well as by the allied forces and the United Nations. He immigrated to Canada in 1955 to work and live on a sugar beet farm near Winnipeg for a very wet summer. He came to Winnipeg and met people in the Greek community who helped him find a job at an aluminum plant in British Columbia. Tony always had a heart for animals and when working in BC, he came upon a bear with a cut foot. He cleaned its foot, fed it and set it free. He got into trouble with the R.C.M.P. for feeding the bears. He returned to Manitoba and moved to Thompson to work for Malcolm Construction until 1971. He met Eva Papadopoulos in 1974 at her brother's home. He was working at the Jenpeg Generating Station at the time. They married on February 7, 1975, in Thompson and lived there until 1976 when they moved to London, Ontario. The couple returned to Winnipeg with Eva's mother, brother and sister-in-law in November of 1977. They purchased Porteous Pizza on Portage Avenue in 1979 and the couple worked hard until 1986. Their pizza was the best! They sold the business and Tony retired but decided to return to part-time cooking at Homer's Restaurant until 1997. They sold their home in 2008 and have lived in their apartment since then. Tony loved animals (especially Psipsina), fishing and children. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Eva Kilopoulos; and brother Nick Foris from Australia. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 2255 Grant Ave. Interment to follow. www.voyagefuneralhome.com

The AHEPA Family expresses its deepest sympathy and condolences to the family of Brother Antonios Kilopoulos. Anthoni served the chapter with devotion and dedication in many ways for the many cultural and charitable activities of the Order in the community. Whether it be cooking for the Folklorama Greek Islands Pavilion or assisting with other AHEPA charitable events, such as the Greek fest, his kind efforts contributed to the virtues of philanthropy and humanism along with ideals of Hellenism. We can all learn from his path in life. May God bless his soul and may his memory be eternal (Eonia Eimnemi). - Posted by: William Constan - Secretary Order of AHEPA Chapter CJ8 for the AHEPA Family (AHEPA Family) on: Mar 31, 2017
